Good Morning from the Zundelsite:

An observer at yesterday's Canadian Human Rights Tribunal hearings told me that one of the Tribunal members had openly expressed her worry about the perception of the Tribunal's monkeyshines in the eyes of the Canadian public.

And well she should - seldom has there been a more arrogant and wasteful outfit operating in the name of "human right"! What monumental joke!

One irate taxpayer certainly sees it that way. Here is a letter he wrote, with a courtesy copy to me:

To: The Canadian Federal Human Rights Commissioner, Ottawa, Ontario

Dear Sir/Madam,

The 1st paragraph of the November 22nd 1996 Globe and Mail article cited in my subject-title states as follows:

"OTTAWA - In an unprecedented move, the Canadian Human Rights Commission has ordered hearings into complaints that Holocaust denier Ernst Zundel is promoting hatred on the Internet."

My first question is: Who are the complainants, since they were unmentioned in The Globe article?

My second question is: Are you, the Human Rights Commissioner and the Canadian Federal Human Rights Commission itself, among the complainants?

I ask, because of what I saw in the last paragraph of The Globe article. It states:

"Mr. Yalden said he is not trying to interfere with free speech, but 'I don't think Zundel's engaged in free debate. I think he's engaged in trying to incite people against Jews."

If this quote is accurate (my third question: Is it?), then what is going to be happening is this:

Mr. Zundel will be subjected to a kangaroo proceeding against him, since it is clear by this statement the CHRC has already made up its mind that what he is engaged in is hate-mongering.

If the CHRC has already made up its mind, then why on earth would it want to waste the valuable resources of its office by going through an absurd and utterly grotesque and meaningless charade? That was my fourth and last question.

I ask, because I had always been taught that in order to be done justice must be **seen** to have been done.

May I look forward to your four answers at your earliest convenience?

By the way, this is either the 3rd or 4th time I have addressed this letter to you since 1996. We are now entering the 2nd trimester of 1998.

What about **my rights** as a taxpayer and a citizen to receive answers to my questions?

What about my human rights--or do these only extend to the "right" to subsidize the CHRC's policing activities using my hard-earned tax-dollars, and nothing more?"

=====

"Why should Denmark prohibit hate speech because Hitler rose to power in Germany?"
