Good Morning from the Zundelsite:

A few days ago I did the editing of the November "Germania Rundbrief" and learned another Don Quixote Zundel tale. It made me laugh because it so reminded me of a related one where Winston Churchill - who liked his speeches every bit as much as everybody else and, hence, was known to carry on - was asked on one occasion to keep his oratory short. Whereupon he stood up, roared at his audience: "Never give up! Never! Never! Never!" and sat down. Here is another typical, authentic bit of Zundel lore, adapted from "Germania" in the wake of the Koenigsberg Radio Program cancellation on highest orders out of Moscow that happened a few weeks ago:

"For years I have tried to establish a radio program for German-speaking countries. I could write a book on my efforts. I paid for time in Northern Ireland to radio stations which previously broadcast from British-based/owned pirate stations, and which now broadcast missionary programs to Germany, Austria and Switzerland. These stations sit on stilts on former anti-aircraft batteries in the North Sea and have a wide and distant reach. My opposition found out, the Devil knows how, and blocked my plans to have my information flak aimed at the country of my birth from these flak emplacements that once shot down my father's generation's planes. My program was not broadcast, even though I had a valid contract. Next I spied out a religious station in Southern Lebanon. A contract giving me advantageous broadcast time was concluded. I sent my master tapes to Tel Aviv - that's right, to Tel Aviv! - because the station was in the Israeli "security zone" in Israeli-occupied South Lebanon. I broadcast a grand total of one program before, predictably, the invisible hand of our censors cut us off. My next attempt took me to darkest equatorial Africa. A contract was concluded with an American firm. I sent my tapes to this middle man in the United States. The tapes were screened and stopped before they ever reached their destination. Result? No Zundel Voice of Freedom from the Dark Continent! This was followed by a contact with a broadcast station in Honduras. That contract was handled by Miami middlemen. Everything went smoothly, and the station broadcast happily away - unfortunately no one could receive the program because the antennae were adjusted incorrectly for reaching my audiences in Europe and North America. A correction wasn't forthcoming, and therefore, this time, I was the one who broke the contract. A further attempt was made with World Wide Christian Radio, a very strong broadcast station. The Zundel-Programs could be heard in Europe, crystal clear, and it was announced by the station that there would be Voice of Freedom Zundel broadcasts coming soon. I beat the jungle drums. A mysterious fire burned down the entire station facilities. My tapes, my contract and my hopes turned to ashes. This station was repaired; new antennae were installed, and 13 Zundel programs hit the air full flast - until that contract, too, was canceled because the enemy was breaking down the doors of management to stop the Zundel-Voice. For a while, a strong Christian station In Pennsylvania broadcast for us as well. A homosexual employee started to agitate and called the FCC in Washington as well as US senators and congressmen - where, in no time at all, a Jewish congressman put on the thumbscrews on the Christians. the good folks feared for their license. Gone was the Zundel-Voice. World-famous short-wave station WRNO in New Orleans in Louisiana broadcast Zundel Programs for more than a year. Our information outreach programs came in both German and English. Then came the Oklahoma City bombing. Fearing for his licence, too, the manager of the station became scared that Washington would interfere because I was not a US citizen. Gone with the Wind was this program - despite a valid contract! By that time, the "Peace Process" in Israel was in full swing, and a ship, owned by an Israeli, that had been used for years to broadcast peace programs in the Mediterranean Sea that called for negotiations rather than war in the Near-East, became suddenly available. A Jewish journalist who had frequently interviewed me in Canada offered to negotiate on my behalf in Israel. He immediately connected with his contacts - and for a while it seemed that I might even have a chance to buy that ship, replete with broadcast station, on-board sleeping quarters and all. Negotiations proved complicated but held out the promise of success. But then it was decided at the last moment that the ship might find a better use commercially as a "Museum of Peace" to spruce up Israel's image. My plan went to the bottom of the sea! Salvation seemed to come in the person of a 30-year-old American Jew who owned a huge, demobilized, formerly mothballed US Navy communications ship, had it remodeled, and had installed new broadcast equipment, antennae etc. Again, negotiations went via middlemen. Broadcasting was supposed to start in a few weeks. The ship was to drop anchor in neutral waters in the Caribbean Sea and was to broadcast globally, entirely free of censorship. The young Jew had already completed his virgin voyage with his ship. My political orientation, he told me repeatedly, was of no interest to him. As long as I could pay, the broadcast would go on and the sailing would be smooth. I liked the man. He had a lot of ideas - and courage to boot. To be on the safe side, I had warned him of complications and asked with some trepidation what might happen to him or his couriers if and when my tapes were picked up in the USA or he would have to drop anchor in USA harbors to pick up his mail and supplies or come in for refueling or repairs. He did not seem concerned. After all, he was an American. He was protected by the Constitution! What I feared, happened. Barely had the ship arrived in one of the Southern states harbors when US Marshals stormed it, guns in hand. All of his broadcast equipment was taken down and hauled away - with it my dream of a floating, global Zundel-Radio Station! In the end, I found a US station that broadcast my programs, which reached 18 US states and six Canadian provinces for years. Die Zionist Lobby applied enormous pressure - time and time again! There were tricks. There were threats. The manager of the station, an Anglo-Saxon American, stood firm. He offered the Jewish opposition rebuttal time at the same price following right after my broadcast. My enemies did not buy even one minute. The idea was to censor, not to inform. What they did buy, in the end, was the station. They threw the brave station manager out on his ear and stopped the Zundel Programs cold, even though I had a valid contract that included a four week cancellation clause. The new station manager has never replied to faxes or phone calls. Local supporters, whom I sent to talk to him, were never allowed near him. Therefore, nothing will surprise me any more in radio land, and it has been my practice to keep at all times several irons in the fire. One such iron was the planned broadcast out of Russia. That it would come from Koenigsberg, the old Germanic Hanseatic port in what was previously East Prussia, was an emotionally important factor for me. I took that to be a good omen. That such a broadcast would be of short duration was, of course, no secret to me - but the attempt had to be made. If nothing else, it would get us publicity in Germany. Which happened. Just as we predicted. For which we did not have to pay. (!) This move was crucial for strategic reasons also - to demonstrate yet one more time to friend and foe alike: "We mean it!" It is now history, of course. Two trial broadcasts did go through, loud and clear - but that was all. The Central Office of "Voice of Russia", despite the protests of our Russian business partners, put an immediate stop to our valiant efforts. The Communists are firmly in the driver's seat behind the scenes - as ever!" (End of "Germania" excerpt, adapted)

I now forecast that the next effort emanating out of the Zundel-Haus will be to get the Zundel voice to spin around the globe via mysterious UFOs out of Antarctica - which will, in a predicted side effect, cause Nizkorites to suffer apoplexy. Ingrid

Thought for the Day: Definition of "apoplexy", according to Ingrid's tattered, 1963 Funk & Wagnalls Standard College Dictionary: "n. Pathol. 1. Sudden loss or diminution of sensation and of the power of voluntary motion caused by an acute vascular lesion of the brain, as from hemorrhage; a stroke of paralysis. 2. A sudden discharge of blood within an organ."
