ZGram: Where Truth is Destiny

December 23, 2000

Good Morning from the Zundelsite:

Ernst tells me that the tradition of the political candlelight vigil was started during World War II by Rudolf Hess. I bet not many people know this.

As announced by the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, there is going to be a candlelight vigil in four cities in America on Christmas Eve for the besieged and brutalized Palestinians. If I were close to any one of these places, I would be there.

If anybody spots a Wiesenthaler or any of their ilk, that's going to be the Eighth Wonder of the World.

Let this be my ZGram for today as night falls and we live through the second shortest day of the year. Only tomorrow will be shorter and darker.

ADC Update:

Candlelight Vigils for Palestine on Christmas Eve

ADC Chapters and activists in several cities around the country are organizing Candlelight Vigils for Palestine to be held on Christmas Eve outside major cathedrals and churches. Each day, more Palestinian children are dying at the hands of the Israeli military. In the past two months only, Israeli forces in occupied Palestine have tragically murdered nearly 300 Palestinians. During this holiday season, it is time to stand up and support the right of the Palestinians to have their own state with Jerusalem as its capital. It is time for all those who have been forced out of their homeland to be granted their inalienable Right of Return. Join our candlelight vigils to remember those who have died at the hands of the Israeli military, and to demand peace with justice for Palestine.

Thought for the Day:

"Israeli officials have steadfastly denied this charge - which has been levelled by the UN, Palestinian leaders and its own human rights groups. But yesterday's article spoke of the "excessive severity" with which orders are being interpreted, and quoted a senior officer, anonymously, saying: "Nobody can convince me we didn't needlessly kill dozens of children."
