Special Bulletin / Report about the LA Zundel Demonstration

I just returned from Los Angeles where I joined about 50 Zundel
supporters on Friday protesting the political kidnapping and illegal
detention of Ernst Zundel. Now imprisoned for two full years in
inhuman conditions in Rexdale near Toronto, Ernst Zundel is this
continent's most prominent Political Prisoner of Conscience.

All indications are that Ernst is facing deportation - perhaps to
Germany, perhaps to Israel! - at the behest of the vindictive
Holocaust Lobby holding the Canadian government in a virtual
stranglehold and shamelessly making this once pristine, fair
Anglo-Saxon country dance to their tune. The world looks on, aghast!

Our group was opposed by an equal number of Jewish Defense League
members, separated by an estimated 30 LA Police Department cops. The
protest was entirely peaceful and amounted to no more than a spirited
shouting match. At one point, police invited the Canadian Consul to
come out and meet the protesters, which gave me an opportunity to
hand him a fat stack of letters from Zundel supporters from all walks
of life and many countries. For me, this demonstration was quite an
experience! We got some magnificent footage for a professional
documentary now in the planning stages.

Impressive media were there, and both Mark Weber, Director of the
Institute for Historical Review and I gave several interviews. This
morning, I saw that we netted at least one Associated Press write-up
which is being picked up in various countries already, as my global
e-mail indicates.

*LOS ANGELES - *Supporters of German Holocaust-denier Ernst Zundel
protested Friday outside the Canadian Consulate, demanding his
release from jail in that country.

Sponsored by an organization called the Institute for Historical
Review, demonstrators held signs with Zundel's picture and others
that read "Shame on Canada."

Flanked by Zundel's wife, organization director Mark Weber handed
over a letter to a consulate representative, asking for his release.

"The case is an outrage," Weber said. "He is being held on the
pretext of being a threat to national security."

Zundel, who has been in a Canadian jail facing deportation to
Germany, lived in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., until he was deported back to
Canada in 2003 for alleged immigration violations. He remains in
custody while the deportation case against him continues.

Zundel, 65, faces prosecution in Germany for his neo-Nazi and
Holocaust-denying activities. Since the late 1970s he has operated
Samisdat Publishing, one of the leading distributors of Nazi
propaganda, and since 1995 been a key content provider for a Web site
dedicated to Holocaust denial, the Anti-Defamation League has said.

During the protest, Zundel's supporters were met by about 40 backers
of the Jewish Defense League. Waving Israeli flags and chanting "God
bless Canada," both sides shouted at one another on issues including
free speech, the Middle East conflict and the Holocaust.

There were no immediate reports of any arrests, police said.

"We're out here to support the Canadians and let the white
supremacists know they can't come to Los Angeles and hold a protest
without us being here," said Brett Stone, a JDL spokesman. "This is
the city of Angels, not a city of hate."

Wendy Campbell, who stood with about two-dozen Zundel supporters,
said those who came out to protest were from different walks of life
who feel Zundel has been given a raw deal.

  "It's a matter of trumped-up charges," Campbell said. "He's simply a
political prisoner who is in jail for speaking his mind."

Zundel has challenged the constitutional validity of the security
certificate review process under which he is charged. The government
filed court papers last year saying Zundel was a threat to engage in
terrorism or other violence and should be deported.

The Canadian security certificate law, passed after the Sept. 11,
2001, attacks in the United States, allows the government to hold
terrorism suspects based on secret information.

Born in Germany in 1939, Zundel emigrated to Canada in 1958 and
lived in Toronto and Montreal until 2001. Canadian officials rejected
his attempts to obtain Canadian citizenship in 1966 and 1994.

[END]

Other Zundel protest rallies were scheduled to take place in front
of American Consulates in various American cities as well as in
Canada and Sweden, possibly also in Japan.

I haven't yet received any feedback from any of these groups - except
about a protest rally in Washington, D.C. which turned into a
typical confrontation between peaceful protesters on our side and the
filthy and violent ARA terrorists - resorting, as per usual, to
"missiles" such as urine bombs and maybe even worse!

Please read what happened there -

  * BREAKING: Terror Gang Attacks Zundel Protestors *

Urine bombs and physical attacks - happening now!

A RECENT CELL PHONE CALL from newspaper columnist David Mullenax
revealed that the National Alliance members and other free speech
supporters peacefully demonstrating in front of the Canadian Embassy
in Washington, DC for the release of political prisoner Ernst Zundel
have been attacked by the acknowledged terror gang calling itself
"Anti Racist Action" (ARA).

"It's really bad here," Mullenax stated. "We're surrounded and being
attacked."

The gang members, who often disguise themselves with masks (contrary
to law, but there are no known prosecutions of them on such a
charge) and carry weapons, physically attacked the free speech
supporters, tore their 'Shame on Canada!' signs, and began pelting
the pro-freedom group with urine bombs -- all within sight of the
police (30 officers and 6 mounted police), who mysteriously seemed
unable to prevent the gang from attacking.

Mr. Mullenax did say that the police were making some efforts to
keep the self-styled "anti-racist" gang from crossing the lines but
it was obvious that they weren't entirely successful in doing this.
There were no arrests of the attackers, though police were heard
inquiring if the masked gang had a permit for their assembly (they
did not). The gang repeatedly made death threats, not only to the
pro-Zundel group, but even threatened the children of the uniformed
police officers present, who by law wear name badges. It is obvious
the attackers felt that the police had orders not to arrest them.
Despite the provocations and numerous overt illegal and violent
acts, the police did not arrest even a single one of the attackers.

The gang came equipped with several "tool kits" containing tire
irons, wrenches, and other items to be used as weapons, and one gang
member had numerous large bottles filled with human waste strapped
to his body, which he went to refill at a nearby rendezvous point
several times during the attack.

Pro-freedom demonstrators sustained bruises and one was drenched in
human urine, but there were no serious injuries.

Despite the attacks, the free speech supporters held their ground
and were not intimidated. Numerous passersby saw the confrontation
and were very interested in finding out what the fuss was all about.
The most consistent spectators were seen looking out of the windows
of the Canadian Embassy.

National Alliance and other pro-free speech representatives will
continue to communicate with Canadian officials, explaining in
detail why they were there. The attacking gang is irrelevant,
really. It is not relevant to the mission of the Alliance members or
the other free speech supporters who spoke out today, except as a
symptom of a much larger problem. Our audience -- the people we want
to reach -- are the decent people who don't wear masks or attack
peaceful protestors, the people who, if they knew all the facts,
whatever their political position, would be outraged at the
imprisonment without charge of pacifist writer and thinker Ernst
Zundel.

  UPDATE:

After the demonstration was over, gang members were overheard
stating that they were sending scouting groups to several locations,
including cab stands, parking lots, and the nearby Metro station,
hoping to continue the attacks sans police presence. One
pro-free-speech demonstrator had his cab surrounded, with manure,
urine, and mud thrown at it; with attackers banging on the cab's
windshield, windows, and trunk, with attackers screaming threats to
kill the occupants and driver. The immigrant cab driver was
terrified and had to be firmly instructed to drive forward to escape
the attack -- which he did.

Investigations have revealed that the attacking gang has received
government, Jewish, and foundation funds in the past. (Š)
