It is bonanza time again! Even as I typed this, I received additional articles, this time from Austria, that a real "breakthrough" seems to have occurred in Germany.
The German language mainstream papers are dealing with the Finkelstein book in ways we would have only dreamed as recently as a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, the articles are all in German, and translation on short notice is a problem.
But here is an article that came out yesterday in the English version of the generally ever so politically correct Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, written by one Salomon Korn (!) and titled "Attacking the 'Holocaust Industry'.

FRANKFURT. Being Jewish is neither a qualification in itself, nor may it be used as a sacrosanct shield against criticism. If criticism has an objective basis, it does not matter whether it is directed at a Jewish person or a Jewish institution or whether it comes from a Jewish or non-Jewish source.

That's the way things used to be before the "Holocaust" exploiters used it as both a shield from criticism and a club to bludgeon critics into silence. The older generation might still remember.

So much for theory. In practice, a Jew criticizing another Jew attracts a great deal more attention than a non-Jew. Norman Finkelstein has played the role of "Jewish witness" once before, in the debate about Harvard historian Daniel Goldhagen's controversial theory of "Hitler's willing executioners." His words carried more weight with large segments of the non-Jewish public than did those of even the most renowned non-Jewish historians. In public opinion, this "Jewish bonus" continues to count for much more than the quality of the arguments. The previously unknown Finkelstein was in demand not as a political scientist, but as a prosecutor with Jewish credentials.

Now, Finkelstein is mounting a frontal attack on what he describes as a "Holocaust industry" and a "Jewish-Zionist-American conspiracy" against the interests of the survivors of the Nazi extermination of the Jews. This attack has a distinct déjà-vu flavor. Once again the circumstances and the background of Finkelstein's attack are of secondary importance in public opinion. Is anyone really interested in the fact that Finkelstein is speaking mainly as the son of Holocaust survivors -- a fact of which he makes no secret -- and thus lacks the necessary detachment from the subject at hand?

Nobody in intellectual circles has cared for the last 70 years that the promoters of the Zionist-Jewish agenda have always "lacked the necessary detachment" - from Spielberg to Goldhagen to Albright and Lieberman. So why should Finkelstein all of a sudden display the "necessary detachment"?

Long years of watching his mother's fruitless attempts to claim compensation from Jewish organizations might justify his bitterness, but they are no excuse for the way Finkelstein, a New York-based professor, handles his subject matter. Where cool-headed intellectual control gives way to a desire for retribution, the results of any study are likely to reflect an agenda rather than proven facts.

For seven decades, none of the accusations against the Germans showed any "cool-headed intellectual control" - it has been and still is the hallmark of all the Holocaust hype to exploit emotions, whip up anti-Nazi, i.e. anti-German dislike ending in hate, to get retribution in war crimes trials and obtain political advantages and huge amounts of compensation. Nobody except Revisionists reflected on "their" agenda - and the provable facts. Many Revisionists went to prison or were ruined by the ruthless bludgeoning that Abe Foxman admitted to in print, speaking of the Swiss extortion scheme. Remember how he said "We bludgeoned them and bludgeoned them and bludgeoned them - but at what price?"

Finkelstein's methods have something in common with trying to shoot at clay pigeons while standing on a fast-moving traffic circle -- his loads of buckshot do hit something every now and then, but what they hit is seldom their intended target. In a public statement on July 10, which attracted very little public attention, the New York-based "Claims Conference" refuted every single one of Finkelstein's accusations. Through his negligent attitude to facts and figures, he has thrown the baby out with the bath water. But once again, in a response familiar from the Goldhagen debate, ***the public is less interested in Finkelstein's reputation or his scholarly integrity than in his role of "Jewish witness" against Jewish organizations.*** (Emphasis added)

How many Jewish witnesses were trotted out in Nuremberg - Against Demjanjuk? Faurisson? Zundel? Others? - their facts and false claims refuted inside and outside court? The media and the public did not care. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, there is great wailing and gnashing of teeth, isn't there?

Most of the non-Jewish public is not interested in a detailed discussion about the strengths and weaknesses of Finkelstein's accusations. ***What it really wants is to be able to lean back, safe from any suspicion of anti-Semitism, and watch the spectacle of Jews dismantling other Jews and pulling them down off the supposed high horse of their morality. Many German spectators in particular derive a great deal of satisfaction from seeing the ever-moralizing "first-class victims" in the role of the wrongdoer for a change.*** (Emphasis added) Where subconscious psychological needs call for an exonerating tunnel vision, the plausibility of proofs and counter-proofs is unimportant. One wants to view the matter in a certain light, and proceeds to do so.

For seven decades "subconscious (Jewish) psychological needs" were assuaged by what Finkelstein calls "schlock" - Holocaust schlock, that is! - so far off the wall and divorced from reality and facts that Finkelstein says to comment on them or their claims and details would be superfluous!
Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung:
Some, like the far-right German weekly Nationalzeitung, make no secret of this fact. Some derive furtive pleasure from it, and others skillfully conceal their resentment behind painstakingly "objective" proofs that Finkelstein's criticisms are justified in certain points. Of course they are -- the sheer laws of probability dictate that his accusations must have some basis in fact, because Jewish organizations are neither better nor worse than any others. Any mistakes they made must be made public, but not with the intention of postulating some sort of "collective Jewish responsibility" arising from collective characteristics of "the Jews" or "Jewish organizations."

My, my! This is the start, and not the end! Frankly, many of the Jewish people who are truly entitled to some financial compensation have besieged German authorities to be paid directly by the Germans, for they, like Finkelstein's late mother, knew the Jewish organizations like the Claims Conference have a bad reputation based on questionable record - over decades! So they obviously are worse than their German counterparts!

One thing is certain: If Finkelstein had directed his criticisms at non-Jewish American organizations instead of the so-called "Holocaust industry," they would not have elicited anywhere near as much attention and malicious delight from many non-Jews. This begs the question whether the title and the content of the book were not chosen deliberately to cater to certain public expectations with a view to boosting sales.

Titles are chosen to assure attention. Every macabre book title - like Wiesenthal's "The Murderers Among Us" or Goldhagen's blanket accusation against the entire German nation in "Hitler's Willing Executioners" has done exactly that. The promoters of the Holocaust agenda trampled on the German nation's honor, good name, prestige, place among nations without mercy, without relenting, for seven decades!

In the past few weeks, many public figures in Germany have become conspicuous for their refusal to comment on Finkelstein's theory. This refusal strikes me as symptomatic -- of fear, bias or unspoken satisfaction. Finkelstein's emotionally-charged arguments are not the problem. The real problem is the public's reaction -- because this is what will inevitably be viewed as the yardstick for the current status of German-Jewish "normality."

The promoters of things and issues Jewish have so successfully bludgeoned all critics into silence, hurting and frightening so many people, including public figures and educators like Nolte and politicians of every party and stripe that here, too, it might well be payback time. That is the way life works.
So-called "friends of the Jews" like Helmut Kohl and his money-laundering friends have already been exposed as crooks and shady dealers. Many others will be next. Israeli behavior against the Palestinians, and the Jewish organizations' continued attempts to bludgeon and silence people - like the Simon Wiesenthal Center's campaign, the ADL's censorship efforts, Bronfman's attempt, successful in the end in pummeling and embarrassing into submission whole nations like Switzerland, Austria and Germany to cough up ever more money - are based on ever more harebrained schemes and flimsy factual foundations. All that is now taking its toll.
The Germans say: "Das Maß ist voll!" The bucket is now full to overflow!
>From now on it will be a new ball game in Europe. The Jewish leadership has squandered all the good will their fraudulent Holocaust tales generated for so long.
This is a reality check for them!
Finkelstein is only the tip of the iceberg. There are dozens, if not hundreds, Finkelsteins - testing the waters on the Internet, talking quietly over the backyard fences and at barbeques - all over the nation.
The jig is up for good!
