ZGram: Where Truth is Destiny

July 19, 2000

Good Morning from the Zundelsite:

Here comes Part II of the extraordinary Charles Krauthammer article which appeared in The Weekly Standard, May 29, 2000/Vol 5, Number 35, titled "The Collapse of Zionism".

Below Krauthammer addresses the erosion of the Israeli will in response to being surrounded by militarily inferior but psychologically and numerically vastly superior Arabs, humiliated and thus infuriated as they are by decades of Israeli abuse:

Krauthammer:

The retreat is not just territorial. Israel's physical withdrawal is an epiphenomenon, a surface manifestation of a far more profound withdrawal: psychological and, ultimately, ideological. The territorial retreat tries to grapple (however mistakenly) with the question of how a Jewish state can survive; the ideological retreat raises serious doubts about why a Jewish state should survive.

Zundelsite:

So the Jews inside and outside Israel are finally beginning to realize that nature does not suspend its immutable laws for Jews?

Nature's laws apply to Israel. The Israelis may fool themselves, and some stupid goyim, that they are "God's Chosen People" - they won't fool Mother Nature. Why should a Jewish state, a pariah and a parasite among nations, built on terrorism against the native inhabitants and largely sustained by guilt money and extorted reparations - and on the backs of Palestinians, their sweat, their blood, their tears - why should this entity survive?

Krauthammer:

These doubts, and the relentless attempt by Israel's intellectual elites to instill them in the mainstream of Israeli culture, have been chillingly catalogued in a new book by Yoram Hazony. The Jewish State: The Struggle for Israel's Soul lays bare the debate that has been raging in Israel - in Hebrew, and thus beyond the ken of most Western observers - about the necessity, indeed the morality, of a state that defines itself as Jewish.

Zundelsite:

Well, finally! A new generation of Jewish thinkers confront their own culture, the Zionist-created myths - and find them woefully wanting. A long overdue process!

And they hide behind the Hebrew language curtain to boot?

Krauthammer:

Hazony is the young head of the Shalem Center, a Jerusalem think-tank that publishes the intellectual journal Azure. He's also a leading Israeli neoconservative (an admittedly small group), and he begins his book with a review of those voices in high Israeli culture - writers, artists, philosophers - that question the entire Zionist enterprise. He then offers a history of Zionism, probing into the great divisions between the followers of Theodore Herzl and those who opposed the idea of an exclusively Jewish state. In the last part of The Jewish State, Hazony tries to trace the influence of these early opponents on contemporary "post-Zionism."

Zundelsite:

This process of coming to grips with reality, not the artificial creation of Zionist propaganda, was slow in coming, but was accelerated by Israeli writers and historians such as Dr. Michael Bar Zoher, Professor Israel Shahak with his book "Jewish History, Jewish Religion", and Tom Segev with his title "The Seventh Million." The West got only glimpses of that "inside" Israeli-Revisionist debate of what was being said - and how the whole enterprise was rotten at the core. It was the dissident writers and underground press in Israel, America and England who were the first to know, and who published the works of people like Dr. Shahak.

Krauthammer:

The central contention of post-Zionism is that the idea of a Jewish state - with its unique calendar, flag, anthems, rhythms, ethos, and history - is atavistic, a throwback to the romantic nationalism of the nineteenth century that begat, among other things, fascism and Nazism. In the modern world of the Internet, the global economy, European integration, and growing transnational interdependence, this ethnic particularism is hopelessly retrograde. The advanced peoples of the West are surrendering sovereignty. Israel should, too.

Zundelsite:

More truthful would be to say that vampires cannot exist on vampires. As resistance to supporting that criminal statelet Israel grows, the beneficiaries inside that statelet realize they cannot preach a New World Order while clutching at the old.

More deeply still: the cultural seeds of destruction sown by multitudes of Jewish subversives in the media, academia, education and the entertainment world in the West - from Fleet Street to Hollywood, from Washington to Berlin, for over a century - have finally germinated and borne fruit in Israel itself! The Marcuses, Montagues, Freuds, Marschs, Dr. Spocks, Goldwyns, Meyers, Spielbergs, Walter Lippmans, even Mike Wallaces and all the other culture destroyers have finally succeeded in also destroying the core values of the Jewish experiment in Palestine.

It was bound to happen, for what goes around will surely come around. Israel is now infected with the same cultural bacillus of degeneration that is sapping the once mighty, culturally fertile, productive people of Western civilization from Europe to America.

Krauthammer:

There is something wildly out of place about this idea. This is all well and good for Liechtenstein. Unfortunately, however, the neighborhood in which Israel finds itself shows no sign of giving up nationalism, particularism, or religious fanaticism to join the global bandwagon. No matter. The post-Zionists are morally offended and aesthetically appalled by the grubbiness of their neighborhood and the brutal provincialism of their compatriots. One leading Israeli poet, Dalia Rabikovitch, parodies the longing for the Return in early Zionist poetry with this twist on the twenty-third psalm:

As for me,

He maketh me lie down in green pastures

In New Zealand...

Truehearted people herd sheep there,

On Sundays they go to church

In their quiet clothes.

No point in hiding it any longer:

We're an experiment that didn't turn out well, A plan that went wrong,

Tied up with too much murderousness.

Zundelsite:

The truth will out! Deir Yassin, Sabra and Shatila, the South Lebanon's torture chambers at Kiam and another thousand places bear mute witness to this wanton murderousness. Israel was long the willing recipient of the loot of Jewish gangsters, happily laundering their stolen billions and giving a "safe-from-extradition" haven to gangsters and swindlers from France, England, America and a dozen other places. Israel took in the Stalin torturers and butchers such as the Shlomo Morells who mutilated and murdered thousands of innocents. Israel was born in violence, kept spilling the blood of innocents, and now exists on a foundation of broken bones and thousands of skeletons.

Krauthammer:

Aesthetic revulsion is compounded by a profound moral guilt about the Israeli experiment. In The Jewish State, Hazony highlights how much Israeli cultural production focuses on the original sin of Israel's founding and how the "new historians" consciously subvert traditional Zionist history with a version that places blame for the suffering and dispossession of Palestinians on Jewish aggression, terror, and hunger for power.

Zundelsite:

"Moral guilt about the Israeli experiment..." oh, but how sweet it is! How sweet it is to hear Jewish intellectuals finally come clean and to begin to face their past - honestly and truthfully! ***After*** having mercilessly and relentlessly pounded at the Germans for half a century: "Face up to your 'criminal' past! Do penance - and, of course, give money!"

Over 100 billions of DM!

Now the world expects these Israeli intellectuals to demand the same vigorous examination of all of Israeli's dirty little and big secrets. Isn't this justice - coming full circle?

Krauthammer:

But the new historians are hardly content with exposing original sin. They insist on the view that Israel has lived in sin ever since.

Zundelsite:

Original sin! And having lived in that sin ever since! Now is that Revisionism writ large - or what?!

Where are the Human Rights Tribunals when we need them for these people? Where is Barak's Peace and Reconciliation Commission" to expose, try and punish the torturers and murderers of the Palestinians?
