Zgram - Where Truth is Destiny: Now more than ever!

November 3, 2003

Good Morning from the Zundelsite:

In a more recent letter, Ernst wrote to a friend living in Texas,
giving him an update on what's on the legal agenda:

[START]

I have to focus my mind and spend my time on the 1806 pages of
documents I will be questioned on at my advanced hearing date/bail
hearings on the 6 - 7 November 2003. My arrest [in Tennessee] was the
result of a U.S. railroading, and there was obviously high level
collaboration to achieve this result - even though there is
absolutely no evidence that there were any similar accusations, like
those of CSIS, against me in America. Nothing in my Freedom of
Information request documents supplied any of this type of material!

Then the new lawyers will appear on November 18 - 19, 2003 in Ontario
Superior Court on a Habeas Corpus hearing coupled to the
Constitutional Review of these new National Security Laws.

Show trial in Germany for me? I am afraid I tried that in 1991, but
the German press is far more hamstrung and politically beholden than
even the Canadian press, and the German courts have no leeway,
because of the way the system is set up there. Conviction is
automatic and they do not, as a matter of record, accept any evidence
or witnesses to the contrary.

There are also no court transcripts being made of the proceedings, so
one can't even re-write history, as I have done for years in Canada,
and again in these proceedings, or with others like Paul From or
Ingrid exploiting the transcripts for educational purposes. Thus the
German situation is unclear, and my least favorite option!

I will decide when the time arrives, if I will try to raise the money
from my aging supporter base of the WWII generation people mainly. I
have two well known attorneys standing by, as we say in German
"Gewehr bei Fuß" [foot at the rifle] ready to launch the "Mother of
all Holocaust Trials" on German soil, if we think it can be pulled
off and can be turned into a platform for our cause!

  [END]

I do not often disagree with Ernst on political matters or quarrel
with his assessments and predictions, but I do in this case. Just
recently, one of the leaders of the nationalist German youth movement
told me: "If they ship Ernst to Germany, we'll demonstrate on his
behalf by the thousands from all over Europe." He brought along some
papers, documents and videos that made it very clear how jittery the
German stooges are that feed on the taxpayers' trough by shielding
the Holocaust Lie. In a public debate, they actually fled from the
podium when confronted with the most basic, common-sense questions!
I think a Zundel Trial in Germany would be the proverbial last nail
in the coffin, and we could finally bury the Hoax and breathe freely
again!

However, Ernst sits in solitary prison, and when you stare at the
bare walls for months on end, it can erode one's confidence. The
letter below was written more than 6 months ago, and many things have
changed - some definitely for the better. What hasn't changed,
however, is our continued need for support. Our new attorney team is
costing us $400.- an hour - and that includes time spent on travel,
studying documents, conferring with authorities, replying to requests
from agencies etc. Costs add up very quickly - and we are carrying
these costs alone with no help whatsoever from agencies, foundations,
or tax payers as our enemies do, and have time and again in the past.

I have long debated with myself if I should run the Zgram below,
because it shows Ernst in one of his rare, darker moods as he faces
our huge obligations. More often than not, he is an upbeat,
energetic powerhouse of novel, often untried ideas. I always look
forward to his calls because they make me feel buoyed and charged
with the infectious Zundel spirit. Also, by nature I am an
optimistic gal. But as I reread the letter below, I thought about a
little boy whose story I once read, who was, through no fault of his
own, caught in an incredible, in fact, almost hopeless situation. He
was tied down in a wheelchair, a muscular dystrophy victim who, at
the age of ten, was staring death in the face with a poise and
maturity that would put any one of us to shame.

When asked if he believed he could be cured, he said very softly:

"Sure. I believe in it. Why not? But I don't count on it."

Feelings like that must have been on Ernst's mind when he wrote the
letter below to a long-time friend named Frank Schmidt, a former
Canadian soldier in World War II:

Dear Frank and lovely wife:

It was good to see you at those hearings in Toronto before Judge
Blais. This will be a dirty, messy battle, where the government's
character assassins will stop at NOTHING - mark my word, Frank, and
when they will feel that they will lose, and their carefully
constructed House of Cards will not be sufficient, I do not rule out
even the most drastic steps from the Prime Minister [Chretchien's]
Office, for he has always been "their boy."

Trudeau was too smart, too cunning, too well-read, too steeped in
Jesuit and Marxist teachings - he knew their power and influence, and
on the odd occasion, refused to do their bidding, as in the passing
of war crimes legislation. It was left to Mulroney and his cohorts -
and, of course, "their boy", whom they had surrounded early on with
their "advisors." He is a man of little intellect, not charismatic
but [with a] keen political instinct of where the power lies and how
he can serve them - and how they will, in turn, serve him and his
career. One benefits from the other. They are like Siamese Twins,
enmeshed in each other. [Separated], they would be really reduced to
relative insignificance.

There is an election coming. "They" are the noisiest and most pushy
minority in the country, and they donate big enough sums to the
Party's war chest that they buy [so as to] being listened to.
[Generally],German-Canadians, and also German-Americans, have never
understood how the North American system works. You and I have - a
few others as well. But we have never been able to mobilize our
grassroots Germans. In their naiveté and almost child-like
simple-mindedness, they thought that protecting their heritage meant
to organize Octoberfests, folk dances, shows, old people's homes and
choirs - or German language schools. While you and I both approve of
these cultural activities, they did nothing to assure protection or
survival as an ethnic or linguistic group - much less give us a
political voice, and certainly no clout.

Frank, I spent 40 years trying every avenue I could think of, every
trick in the book of publicity. I did motivate enough people to
raise the funds to fight these costly trials in the 1980s and 1990s.
[Now] our mailing list is shrinking. Every week a few friends die.
I cannot finance the costs [of yet another Great Holocaust Trial]
from income. Alone the Constitutional Challenge of these National
Security Laws, applied against me, [Defense Attorney Doug Christie]
told me, will be a minimum of $25,000 - the going rate. The costs
for these continued bail reviews are in addition to these costs -
about $2,500 - to $3,000 a trip. You figure it out. These are the
Canadian expenses!

Ingrid let slip on the phone that [for the] last months she paid
$12,000 to the lawyer who prepared the case against the totally
arbitrary INS decision. There are three other lawyers hanging on the
"drip" in America. Ingrid is convinced they/she can overturn this
injustice. After my years of watching judges in Germany, Austria,
Canada, and now soon America, I am more cynical, but I do not have
the heart to rob her of this hope. She clings to it. Any even
gentle suggestion that we cannot sustain the battle, she thinks, is
"Wehrzersetzung" - defeatism.

I keep telling her that there has always been this component to my
struggle. I compare it to the ritual kosher slaughtering of a cow or
sheep - only in this case it's me/us - since we are married. We have
our throats cut by the rabbis' mahel , the ritual butchering knife.
We see our life blood - our financial reserves and income - drain
away, drain out of the Zündels as real as it is for the cow, while we
are fully conscious, experiencing our own slow demise.

In the past, when I was free, I could hop on a plane, into my car, or
at least get on the telephone and beg, cajole, persuade my friends
around the world to help out, and usually I succeeded just well
enough to pay [my attorneys'] costs - in installments [as often as
not] - but nevertheless, pay them. I cannot make these calls now.
No overseas calls from jail, no easy calls to a friend when,
off-the-bat, you have to ask his stand-off'ish wife to take a collect
call from a prison. You, Frank, will be one of the few people who
will understand the situation.

Ingrid is too shy to beg. I am, and always was, shy about it, too,
rather worked my ass off to earn the money with my brushes and my
bare hands, but no single individual, however hard-working or
talented, can raise these enormous sums, year-in and year-out, for
decades! Had it not been for the bequests, which came in - often
totally unexpected, from people I did not even know, I would have had
to give up years ago!

We had such lofty plans for our new start in Tennessee! We were
going to venture into new areas of research, into the production of
CDs - folk music and, of course, art in the form of posters and
numbered/signed prints to bridge the passing of a great World War II
generation of heroes and heroines. That was, and still is, the plan.
But I don't see how I can make it succeed from inside a Canadian or
German Maximum Security Jail. Unless there is some miracle, similar
to Daniel-in-the-lions-den' in that some judge sees and puts an end
to the injustice going on - then and only then can be the outcome a
positive and happy one, short-term and long-term.

Realistic optimism was always my style, as you know - and I certainly
have had my share of good luck. You can share this realistic
assessment with friends you trust, for they need to know "where it's
at."

[END]

Now you, too, know where it's at! We don't expect much to come from
the bail hearing, for the judge has allowed this incredible string of
bail hearings to drag on and on to help the Jews drain us of our
cash. I have my doubt he even comprehends what's going on right
under his own nose - but that is now irrelevant. We count on the
18th-19the where there will be a different court and different judge.
Maybe something will give. If not, there will be other options. But
in the meantime, our lawyers will have to get paid.

If you can help, now is the time. Please put your shoulder to the
wheel and help us shove. We are talking Right versus Might - and in
our world, the Truth is still an asset and is still on our side, no
matter how often our enemies regurgitate the Lie.
