Zgram - Where Truth is Destiny: Now more than ever!
October 13, 2003
Good Morning from the Zundelsite:
Today's Prisoner of Conscience Letter is a bit of
stream-of-consciousness writing. Ernst replies to a more recent
supporter in Texas - apparently a young man who had heard of him and
had specific questions about one of World War II's less well-known
episodes.
Ernst reminisces of his early years:
[START]
I am very familiar with Bari. When I first came across the story, I
was surprised at the accuracy and the bravery of the Luftwaffe
pilots, who by then were already way outnumbered and flying rather
outdated planes in comparison to the U.S. Air Forces.
The attack on Bari was flown, if I remember correctly, with mainly
Junkers 88s, and not that many either.
I toured the Italian battle fields, including the Naples area and
also, of course, Monte Cassino, where I made a grisly discovery
nobody had written about before. I was then 24 years old. As I was
walking along the German war cemetery at the foot of the rebuilt
Monte Cassino Abbey, which had housed one of Europe's most beautiful
murals of the Lord's Last Supper, I said to my French-Canadian wife
and my three-year-old boy who was with us: "Look at all those young
men who died on their birthdays." I was shocked. Dozens of young
men, 19-20 old, were killed on their very birthdays!
It so troubled me that I went and talked to one of the World War II
veterans who were on duty in a trailer set up outside the gates of
the cemetery from the Verein für deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge
[German War Cemetery Association]. I pointed out these dates to him.
He said they, too, had seen that and made enquiries with the
veterans' organizations of the units who had served there - and lo
and behold, here was the reason:
The Wehrmacht would give each young soldier two free bottles of
Italian wine to celebrate their young birthdays away from home.
Undoubtedly, the soldiers would have some more bottles stashed away
and would drink, celebrate and get "Dutch courage", they would be
less careful, would not crouch low enough in the trenches, perhaps
raise their young, curious heads above the trench - and be shot right
between the eyes by Allied snipers, mainly Polish, Indian-Ghurka and
Brazilian troops.
23,000 young Germans lie buried in that cemetery. A few miles away
is an Allied cemetery with 17,000 soldiers there, many of them
Americans.
And speaking of Americans - two, three years ago a court case took
place in Italy not far from Monte Cassino and St. Isidro where the
mainly colored G.I.s had raped hundreds of Italian peasant women
while being held up by the Germans' Kesselring troops. Apparently
many half-cast babies resulted. The article in a mainstream paper
talked about that case, and how these Italian women demanded, and
finally got, compensation and an apology from the U.S.
I saluted that, and hoped German women would take the cue and do
likewise. As per usual, Germans simply cannot whine and [complain] -
they rater suffer their misfortunes and humiliations in silence.
Let me tell you, after having been a German for 64 years - we are one
weird, mixed-up, not always admirable people! I have often been
driven to the edge of despair because I could never motivate enough
of these people to amount to anything!
That's one of the reasons why I admire Hitler! How did that man
manage to stir up and galvanize into action these lethargic,
heavy-as-molasses people! It was one of the Hitler miracles I can
point to. I am no mean motivator of people and have enjoyed a
tremendously loyal following who have made all my research, radio-
and TV programs, all the many documentaries, my hundreds of books and
booklets, my world-wide travels and these horrendously expensive
court cases possible because of their sacrifices. I am not
bad-mouthing them; I am strictly asking myself: Why did millions,
tens of millions respond so enthusiastically to that man and his
movement - and why have not I, or any other post-war leader in
Germany or elsewhere, been able to mobilize anywhere near that number
of loyal following?
Was it the hopelessness they had experienced before? Was it hunger?
Was it despair? Unemployment? What was the phenomenon at work? Was
it that so many of those live wires, who responded so
enthusiastically, had been killed before they had a chance to breed -
and thus the dullards bred? Was our gene pool so devastated by the
tremendous culling of our breeding stock that all we had left were,
to use a rancher's term, "scruff cattle"?
When I would survey the human material left in the streets of the
Ruhr Industrial Area, or even cities like Frankfurt, Berlin, even
Munich, I shuddered many a times by the remnants I saw. I also noted
that it was very, very difficult to uplift, to inspire, to get a
laugh or applause out of a German audience in contrast even to an
American, British or Canadian audience. It was as if something had
broken their spirit, their will to resist, and their will to
self-assertion.
That's why I decided to concentrate and try to lift these oppressive
Allied propaganda lies from their psyches. For two to three years, it
worked. You could sense, almost tangibly, the feeling in these
people's hearts: "There goes Ernst Zündel, the man who smashed that
Gordian Knot of the Holocaust Lie with the Leuchter Report!" But
once the German vassal's state judiciary recovered from its initial
shock and jailed me and people like Thies Christophersen, Deckert,
Roeder and 127,000 others for not believing in the Holocaust Lie,
[the Germans'] backs were broken.
I tried and tried - via videos, audiotapes, radio, TV broadcasts and
speeches. I could not overcome the lethargy of the German masses,
and in the end it took its toll on my own health, especially after
the arson, which the police never solved and the bomb crimes, which
they never properly prosecuted.
What I am now subjected to is only the enemy's hatred and revenge,
being allowed by morally bankrupt and crooked politicians to curry
favors with the Jewish voters in the upcoming elections in the
spring. It does not surprise me. I know the way the Canadian system
works. It's really only slightly better than Mexico or any other
banana republic's modus operandi. Canadian politicians, able to rely
on totally docile and controlled media and a politically appointed
judiciary, can hide their corruption more easily - just as they do in
the USA. These systems have been in power for too long, and I see no
force, no ideology, much less a popular movement arising to sweep
them away.
That is one of the drawbacks of a polyglot/multiracial/many-ethnic
groups state. There is no homogenous majority, only a hodgepodge of
separate interest groups and ethnic enclaves. I ran for prime
minister of Canada in 1967 and noticed even then the Balkanization of
Canadian society into [conflicting] forces negating one another. ()
Canada's revolutionary, even evolutionary potential was preempted by
the oligarchy in power.
