ZGram: Where Truth is Destiny

May 9, 2000

Good Morning from the Zundelsite:

Once more - just so that people won't forget:

IHR's May Conference to Spearhead Revisionism's

Post-Lipstadt Counterattack

In the aftermath of the London court decision against David Irving, IHR's Thirteenth International Revisionist Conference is shaping up as a decisive event for the revisionist movement. Over the May 27-29 Memorial Day weekend, the world's leading revisionists, including Robert Faurisson, Arthur Butz, Germar Rudolf, Bradley Smith, Fred Toben, and numerous other researchers and activists in the fight for historical truth will gather with IHR's leaders and supporters in Orange County. There they will frame revisionism and IHR's response to the outcome of the Irving-Lipstadt trial, as well as chart the Institute and revisionism's twenty-first century course.

This conference signals the return of the Institute to full function. IHR's first full conference in six years is an opportunity to take stock of recent revisionist gains, as well as of the Irving trial. The IHR conference also heralds the revisionist counterattack against the massed political, legal, and financial power of the Holocaust industry.

As everyone knows by now, in London on April 11 the Holocaust lobby triumphed yet again in its favorite venue, the law court. This time, for once, the revisionist was the plaintiff, but only in response to an internationally co-ordinated blackout and smear campaign that had made it almost impossible, as David Irving's doubts on Auschwitz gassings grew, for him to find a commercial publisher. Irving's valiant, lonely courtroom battle against impossible odds is now the stuff of legend. While his opponent, the minor historian Deborah Lipstadt -- ringed by squadrons of lawyers, and financed to the hilt from New York, Beverly Hills, and Jerusalem -- refused to testify in her own defense, Irving acted as his own researcher, witness, and advocate, on the law and on the facts.

Irving's Inroads

While the Holocaust lobby and its town criers in the media have gloated over their victory, an examination of the trial record and of Judge Charles Gray's decision shows that Irving, ably assisted in his research by undercover academics, made new inroads against the alleged gas chambers of Auschwitz. In his cross-examination of Professor Robert Jan Van Pelt, exterminationism's latest, much-ballyhooed expert on the Auschwitz crematoria, Irving was able to show that neither the blueprints nor the ruins exhibit any trace of holes or of hollow columns for the introduction of Zyklon-B that a handful of "eyewitnesses" claim to have seen -- and without which the alleged gassings cannot have taken place. Or, as Robert Faurisson puts it, "No holes -- no Holocaust." In his finding that mass gassings did somehow take place at Auschwitz, Judge Gray found himself constrained to rely most heavily on the testimony of "eyewitnesses," first and foremost Filip Müller (who claimed to have witnessed a bucket filled with recently amputated body parts hopping around the crematorium floor), David Olère (the Auschwitz "artist" who claimed the Germans made sausage from dead inmates), Henryk Tauber (who claimed that the Germans regularly put live inmates into the crematory ovens), and other obvious liars.

Irving's courtroom breakthrough comes as no surprise: he was working the same rich vein that Arthur Butz, using the comparatively few Auschwitz documents then available, opened in the 1970s. In 1988 Ernst Zündel, on the advice of Robert Faurisson, commissioned the inspection and testing of the alleged Auschwitz gas chambers by the American execution expert Fred Leuchter. Leuchter's work inspired subsequent studies by the Institute for Forensic Research in Cracow, by a German doctoral student in chemistry working at the Max Planck Institute, Germar Rudolf, and by the president of the Austrian engineers society, Walter Lüftl. None of these studies could substantiate evidence of mass murder in the alleged gas chambers.

Now that Irving has established that the "best experts money can buy" cannot provide any forensic evidence to support gas chamber claims, revisionists will have much to say to the conference on the implications of the testimony and ruling in the Irving trial, and on the specific direction of the coming revisionist thrust against the Auschwitz lie. Swiss researcher Jürgen Graf, meanwhile, will speak on the results of revisionist research on Auschwitz documents in the Moscow archives -- which he has been carrying out with fellow JHR editorial advisor Carlo Mattogno -- that demonstrates the emptiness of official claims that many thousands of non-registered detainees were gassed at Auschwitz.

Revisionist Explosion

Indeed, IHR's renascence from years of draining litigation coincides with an explosion of public interest in Holocaust revisionism. Besides the Irving trial, there has been the much-touted "documentary," Mr. Death, by Errol Morris, dedicated to making Fred Leuchter seem a fool and his research worthless; but the first version of the film made Leuchter look good to college audiences, and the addition of architecture professor Van Pelt and the sepulchral chemist James Roth failed to supply scientifically credible reasons for the absence of either chemical traces of the alleged murder weapon, hydrogen cyanide, or of holes for emptying it into the "gas chamber."

Then there is the increasing acceptance of revisionism in the Muslim world: Israel's attempts to excuse its mistreatment of Palestinians, Lebanese, and other Arabs by playing the Holocaust card are now being trumped by Muslims playing the Holocaust revisionist card. Revisionism, as weekly wails in the Zionist press attest, is growing not merely in those Arab and Islamic countries officially hostile to Israel, but in those whose regimes have good relations with the Zionist state, such as Egypt, Jordan, and Turkey. And, as journalist Jacob Heilbrunn recently lamented, revisionism -- above all revision of the Holocaust -- has been increasingly embraced, or at least entertained, by nationalist leaders -- including heads of major parties and at least one head of state -- from Croatia, Austria, Switzerland, and France to Japan. Meanwhile, Holocaust revisionism continues to explode over the Internet: the web sites of IHR, CODOH, VHO, Radio Islam, Adelaide Institute, Arthur Butz, John Ball, and Ingrid Rimland, among others, have made millions of words and thousands of images of Holocaust and other revisionisms instantly available around the globe.

Then, too, Bradley Smith and CODOH continue to bring revisionism to college campuses across America, through ads in college papers and by the insert of his ambitious, up-to-date, academic magazine The Revisionist -- and of course Bradley will be his usual entertaining and informative self in regaling conference attendees with the details of his latest successes in helping the nations' college presidents, deans, professors (and their overseers from the ADL) make fools of themselves.

Because Judge Gray's ruling relied heavily on the testimony of a small number of alleged Auschwitz eyewitnesses, rolling back his foolish decision and rolling forward along the path of historical truth will require a re-examination of the claims of Olère, Tauber, Müller, and the rest. Of course, Robert Faurisson, Arthur Butz, Ernst Zündel (in his trials), Bradley Smith (through his campus ads) and other leading revisionists have long been debunking the claims of just these "eyewitnesses." At this conference they will be joined by Charles Provan, an industrious independent researcher, and one of at least two speakers at the conference who believes that the Germans killed large numbers of Jews with gas during the war. Provan, who spoke at David Irving's 1999 conference in Cincinnati, will present new evidence impeaching alleged eyewitness "Doctor at Auschwitz" Miklos Nyiszli, whose account has been one of the most influential, and bestselling, of such testimony.

To demonstrate that the Holocaust is far from the conference's sole concern, John Sack, a prominent journalist and author who covered America's wars from Korea to the Gulf on the front lines, and dodged police clubs while covering 1968 Democratic convention, will tell the story of the most controversial of his many controversial books -- An Eye for An Eye: how his true account of the torture and killing of innocent German civilians by Jewish jailers in Communist concentration camps in postwar Poland has been pulped, and how its author has been snubbed and muzzled from the German Federal Republic to the US Holocaust Memorial Museum and beyond. Glayde Whitney, professor of psychology and neuroscience at Florida State University, and past president of the Behavior Genetics Society, will talk on the momentous changes in scientific attitudes regarding race and racial differences over the past 75 years -- and possible reasons for those changes.

Former Congressman

No speaker at any IHR conference has ever been more eminent that former US Congressman Paul McCloskey, the US Marine Corps veteran who braved enemy fire in Korea, Richard Nixon on Capitol Hill, and most recently the Israel-first Anti-Defamation League. The ADL first targeted McCloskey when the Congressman dared to speak out for a pro-American Middle East policy. McCloskey will tell IHR's conference of his role as a leading attorney in the class action suit against the ADL for its massive spy operation that, in collaboration with police agencies, illegally targeted thousands of law-abiding Americans.

IHR director and Journal of Historical Review editor Mark Weber will keynote the conference, reviewing a century of history whose historiography badly needs revising, as well as the prospects for the history and history-writing of the century to come. Will falsely imputed "aggression" and exaggerated (or even faked) crimes of war or against humanity continue to be used to justify "war crimes discreetly veiled" and "perpetual war for perpetual peace," as seems to be the continuing pattern for US policy? Or can revisionist truth make a difference -- in the Balkans, in the Middle East, and elsewhere? IHR book editor Ted O'Keefe will dissect the historical and media myth of Oskar Schindler, the World War II German businessman alleged to have spirited over a thousand Jews from certain destruction. O'Keefe will reveal many surprising realities that contradict the legends and falsehoods surrounding Schindler's List, and evaluate the Schindler phenomenon within the larger context of Holocaust history and Holocaust propaganda.

Greg Raven, master of IHR's web site, will emcee the conference in his usual suave fashion. President of IHR's controlling corporation, the Legion for the Survival of Freedom, as well as the Institute's problem-solver in chief for legal and business affairs, Raven will explain the unique organizational potential and needs of the world's leading institutional force for historical revisionism, the Institute for Historical Review. And LSF board member, Dr. Robert Countess, a tireless force for revisionism around the world, will report on his activities in Europe and America.

That's not all -- we expectantly await, for this conference that already boasts an unbeatable line-up of revisionist researchers and activists, one other revisionist that we can't (yet) announce, but who we guarantee will be an electrifying presence in the re-galvanization of the IHR and the counterattack against the court decision in London.

Yes, we know the time is short -- but is there any better time than right now to make your decision to join our speakers and the many revisionists who will be in attendance at IHR's Thirteenth International Conference?
