ZGram - Where Truth is Destiny: Now more than ever!

June 7, 2003

Good Morning from the Zundelsite:

As the Enemies of Free Speech are trying their hardest to tighten
their stranglehold on all of us, we need a little smile in order to
keep some perspective. And look - here comes a smile!

A supporter of ours sent me the following:

Enclosed find my letter. You will find it a little different. I
understand that right now (write now) you and Christie are inundating
Ottawa with testimonial letters. Quite proper.

But there are other ways to get their attention.

One man in a lonely prison. It is easy to pass by. There are so
many like that.

I am 73, read a lot, but even I was shocked by the pencil stub
business. All the other stuff was old hat to me. Chains, clogs,
shackles, mistreatment, torture etc. We have had a steady diet of it
since World War II.

But I had never seen the pencil stub business before. That is why it
is powerful. It is not worn out from over-use. Just think - pencils
from Sweden, Mexican pencils, Russian pencils, Lebanese pencils,
pencils from everywhere. Pencils raining upon Ottawa!

AND THEN HE ADDED THIS:

[START]

MRS. ZUNDEL: CC GOVERNMENT OF CANADA:

I wish to state that I have enjoyed the fine art produced by the
well-known artist, Ernst Zundel, for many years. His artist's brush
has an instinct for finding truth and beauty in a world often rife
with ugliness and confusion. It is difficult to see how a man who
has spent six decades as artist and pacifist could be seen by any
government as a "terrorist".

I was particularly saddened to see that this talented artist has been
given only a short stub of a pencil with which to draw and write
letters. it is not known to me whether it is the purpose of the
country of Canada to prevent Mr. Zundel from painting/drawing or
simply to deny him his right to freedom of speech.

As a connoisseur of art, I am sending along another pencil stub for
artist Zundel. I do this as common charity since Canada's budget
seems to be strained in this matter.

As for the restraints upon Mr. Zundel's free speech, the only thing I
can do is to stay out of Canada and recommend that civilized people
do the same, lest we all should end up sitting in a Canadian jail
with a broken pencil stub in hand.

Canada, you have sold yourself too cheaply.

Artists of the World, Unite!

[END]

How about it, folks? Go and find a pencil stub and send it to Mr.
Coderre and give him a piece of your mind - and please don't forget
your manners! Some idiot already got Ernst in trouble for sending a
nasty note to the prison. That doesn't help at all! Please don't
forget your Mama raised you right! And please remember that we are
people of culture and discernment - it's our enemies that you can
recognize from pedding nastiness and smut!
