ZGram: Where Truth is Destiny

April 16, 2000

Good Morning from the Zundelsite:

I am getting my readers habituated to my expanded outreach system. This is my second "Revisionist Round-up for the week".

Some of the content is already familiar to you - but I am trying to "swat two flies with one swatter", as the saying goes. I have now written a ZGram (with very few exeptions) every day of every week of every month for four years! I have decided I need to take at least the Sunday off.

So here is my newest effort - compiled during the week. It goes to my favorite media. If you know of a snazzier title for this new cyber column, please speak up!

***Revisionist Week in Review*** by Ingrid Rimland

* World-renown author and controverisal British historian, David Irving, who has argued that the number of Jews killed by the Nazis was greatly exaggerated and that the claimed gassing of millions of people in Auschwitz was technically impossible, lost a libel suit he brought against a traditional Holocaust defender, Deborah Lipstadt of Emory University, and her publisher, Penguin Books.

Professor Lipstadt claimed with the aid of her 20-plus attorneys and legal staff in a highly publicized trial in London that Irving was a "Holocaust denier" and a "falsifier of history".

Irving, representing himself - since he claimed that he could not afford a lawyer - argued persuasively that Adolf Hitler did not mastermind the mass slaughter of Jews. He called the Auschwitz camp a "Disneyland for tourists" built after the war in 1948.

The judge agreed with Lipstadt, affixed on Irving a few labels of his own for good measure, and ordered him to pay the legal fees for the defense, estimated in the range of $3.2 - $6 million. Lawyers for Penguin have stated that it was "almost certain" that the firm would seize Irving's expensive flat in the very heart of London, but Irving is quoted as having said:

"Undoubtedly they will come for their pound of flesh, but will find I'm made of British beef. I've always suspected they were into money and gold, with a capital G."

* Steven Spielberg, the Oscar-winning director of Schindler's List, is described by the Sunday Telegraph as having ". . . emerged as a leading figure in the downfall of Irving."

The Spielberg Shoah Foundation, a non-profit foundation set up to raise awareness of the "Holocaust", donated an "unspecified sum of money" to the Lipstadt-Penguin Defense Fund.

* A telling website poll was taken right after the verdict by a Jewish website.

The question posed was: "Does author Deborah Lipstadt's legal victory Tuesday over Holocaust denier David Irving mean that Holocaust denial is behind us for good?"

Yes 4% (26 Votes)

No 90% (477 Votes)

Don't Know 4% (23 Votes)

* For decades, the murder of some 26,000 Poles in a forest called Katyn was blamed on the "Nazis" who discovered the mass graves in 1943. Only in the early 1990s did the Russian government admit culpability and subsequently cleared the Hitler Army of this crime.

Soviet dictator Josef Stalin's secret police shot 15,000 Polish officers in April and May 1940 and dumped many into common graves in the Katyn forest near Smolensk. About 11,000 civilians, including doctors, scientists and lawyers captured by the invading Soviet army in 1939, also were killed secretly. The Katyn mass graves came to symbolize Soviet crimes against Poland.

Kwasniewski, once an official in Poland's former communist government and now the president of Poland, apologized for the old propaganda machine's role in hiding the truth about Katyn.

* Another huge "Holocaust" lawsuit has been filed, this time against 80 Austrian banks and companies.

The $18 billion lawsuit alleges that these corporate entities ". . . conspired with the Nazis in the theft of property from 'Holocaust' victims and in the exploitation of wartime slave labor and benefited from Aryanization'."

A spokesman for the "far right" Freedom Party associated with Joerg Haider calls the lawsuit "incomprensible."

* A politically incorrect Polish history professor was found guilty a few months ago of "spreading revisionist views" via a self-published book in which he claimed that Nazi Germany did not have a comprehensive plan for exterminating Jews.

According to excerpts reprinted in various newspapers, Dariusz Ratajczak, 37, had called the testimony from eyewitnesses "useless" and described researchers of Nazi crimes as ". . . followers of the religion of Holocaust" who impose on others ". . . a false image of the past."

Even though Ratajczak was found guilty the first time around, the court refused to punish him. Now he will face a retrial.

Under Polish law, it is a crime to publicly deny Nazi and communist-era crimes, and both sides appealed the December verdict - prosecutors because they believe Ratajczak deserves punishment, and the professor because he feels he deserves an outright acquittal.

* A Swiss Holocaust denier fared even worse. A Swiss court this week gave a one-year prison sentence to a elderly Holocaust Skeptic who denied the existence of Nazi gas chambers and argued the extermination of 6 million Jews was "impossible."

Gaston-Armand Amaudruz, 79, was found guilty of racial discrimination in a three-day trial last week on charges stemming from 24 books and an article alleging no proof extermination chambers.

In one of his publications, Amaudruz said: "For my part, I maintain my position: I don't believe in the gas chambers. Let the exterminationists provide the proof and I will believe it. But as I've been waiting for this proof for decades, I don't believe I will see it soon."

Amaudruz was charged under Switzerland's 1995 anti-racism law, which outlaws "belittling the Holocaust" and ". . . makes it a crime to deny, grossly minimize or seek to justify genocide or other crimes against humanity."

The Swiss Federation of Jewish Communities welcomed the ruling as a signal that Holocaust revisionists and open racists ". . . must reckon with a clear punishment."

* Remember when, not all that long ago, Amazon.com buckled under to Jewish pressure regarding the sale of "Mein Kampf"? Now the internet bookstore giant is in the hot seat again, this time for "The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion"

The "Protocols", as they are commonly known, are well-known documents that describe an international Jewish conspiracy. Written in 1897, they are the supposed minutes of meetings between Jews and Freemasons during which they plotted to bring down Western civilization and rule the world.

Widely regarded as fake by Jews and authentic by Gentiles, the text outlines machinations for global control.

So far, Amazon.com has stood firm - but, it's expected, not for long, since none other than the the Israeli Minister of Social and Diaspora Affairs, Michael Melchior, is pleading to have the "Protocols" removed.

* Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien acknowledged his country's "inaction" during what is stubbornly described as the ". . . Nazi-led murder of 6 million Jews. . . " even though the numbers have long been disproven.

Laying a wreath at Israel's Holocaust memorial this week, Chretien ". . . addressed Canada's failure to take in Jewish refugees from anti-Semitic violence during World War II -- a policy infamously summarized at the time by a Canadian official's response when asked how many Jews Canada was prepared to take in: 'None is too many.'"

''As you know, Canada is (now) the most open nation for refugees from all the world,'' Chretien announced.

* Finally, this story could not be verified but it was sent to me by an attorney and is reported as having come from the Wall Street Journal several days ago.

A New York Jewish woman landlord in her forties was convicted of income tax evasion in the U.S. District Court. She had been collecting rents in cash and hiding them in a Caymans Island bank account, not reporting the income for tax purposes.

In pleading for a lenient sentence this lady claimed that she was so traumatized by "the Holocaust" that she had huge insecurity about running out of funds and needed to hide some away to protect herself in case of a new Holocaust.

Thought for the Week:

"The David Irving libel case has become the nearest thing Liberal London society gets to a trial for witchcraft or blasphemy." -
