ZGram - Where Truth is Destiny

June 14, 2002

Good Morning from the Zundelsite:

Mind you, this comes from Sweden where the Holocaust propaganda is as
fierce as anywhere in Europe and where H-Education is at its most
abominable. Therefore, one should never give up putting one's faith
in one's youth!

Swedish political youth group files complaint against Israeli Prime
Minister Ariel Sharon

Thu Jun 13,12:30 PM ET

STOCKHOLM, Sweden - The youth faction of Sweden's ruling party on
Thursday filed a police complaint against Israeli Prime Minister
Ariel Sharon ( news - web sites) accusing him of war crimes.

A rarely applied law allows Swedish courts to try alleged war crimes
committed in other countries, but it would require government
approval and Foreign Minister Anna Lindh showed no support for the
initiative, saying it could disrupt the Mideast peace process even
further.

The Social Democratic Youth of Sweden accused Sharon and his military
commanders of violating rules of war by using excessive violence
against Palestinians and attacking civilian targets during Israeli
incursions into Palestinian territories.

"With this complaint, we want to show that Ariel Sharon, his
commanders and the individual soldiers who violate the laws of war,
risk being put on trial and sentenced," group chairman Mikael Damberg
said.

Prosecutors in Stockholm will review the complaint and decide whether
to launch an investigation. They could then press charges and request
extradition, which would have to be approved by the government.

"There would be very little interest from the Swedish government in
launching a judicial process that risks derailing a political
process," said Lindh, who has condemned violence by both Israel and
the Palestinians.

Israel's ambassador to Sweden, Eliyahu Avidan, said the complaint was
"regrettable" and unfairly targeted Israel as the aggressor in more
than 20 months of fighting.

Lawyers for 23 Palestinians launched a similar case against Sharon in
Belgium earlier this year. An appeals court will decide June 26 if a
Belgian judge should hear the case.
