ZGram - Where Truth is Destiny

February 4, 2002

Good Morning from the Zundelsite:

The darn thing wouldn't let itself be copied, and time is running short -
therefore, here is the URL as backdrop to my comment:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A59376-2002Jan30.html

It is a Washington Post op-ed I meant to send to you, titled "Bush seeks to
restrict Hill Probes of Septmber 11", written by Mike Allen.

A title comes to mind that might be far more fitting: "Super White-Wash
Coming?"

Imagine this scenario: Two New York landmark skyscrapers collapse into
heaps of rubble, ruining thousands of businesses, destroying irreplaceable
data and files of financial and legal transactions of incalculable worth.

3,100 Americans are dead.

The City of New York asks for nearly $60 billion in immediate emergency aid
and to rebuild the massive damage to 28 buildings.

The people are in shock. The world seems paralyzed.

And all this is not worth an open inquiry? In America?

This nightmare could only have happened because of utter failure and
incompetence - and even criminal negligence - by an intelligence
establishment that is cashing some $32 billion a year. No one, to my
knowledge, has been fired or even demoted by the central government who
headed these incompetent intelligence outfits. On the contrary - their
budgets are increased!

And all this does not call for a sweeping public probe of why and how this
greatest disaster in American history could have happened? Right under
their collective noses? Completely undetected?

Intelligence outfits have "watch dogs". As Canada has taught us all too
well, these "watch dogs" are often in bed with the very ones they are
commissioned to watch. It's a Siamese Twin situation - they share an
umbilical cord. If one doesn't tattle on the other, the two will get along
just swimmingly.

The Commander-in-Chief, on whose watch this horrible crime was committed,
comes up with a bright idea: He asks Congress to let the very intelligence
committees who were supposed to be the watch dogs in the first place and
who must share in the responsibility of why the intelligence outfits
failed, to *secretly* investigate what happened!

Not even in the middle of a world war did the Roosevelt Administration
stoop to that!
