ZGram - Where Truth is Destiny: Now more than ever!
The Zundel protest demonstrations continue - and we can
expect this summer to see them in quite a few countries in Europe. Three
have already indicated that they are planning them. On Sunday, there will be
another one at the Detention Center where Ernst is still being held - see
press release below, followed by a letter from a supporter:
First, the press release:

Demonstrators Will Urge Freedom for Ernst Zundel
Rexdale -- Supporters of the Canadian Association for Free
Expression, joined by members of other free speech groups from Kitchener,
London and Niagara, will picket the Metro West Detention Centre (111 Disco
Road, Rexdale) on Sunday, June 1 at 2:00 p.m., CAFE Director Paul Fromm
announced today.
"Ernst Zundel is a political prisoner," says
Fromm, a former Metro Separate School trustee. "His sole crime is
that his political views are unpopular with the Canadian
establishment."
Under a seldom used CSIS Certificate alleging that Zundel
is a threat to natrional security, he has been kept in solitary
confinement since being returned to Canada, February 19.
"We're demonstrating to denounce the use of secret
hearings in Zundel's case," says Fromm. In three previous detention
hearings, the adjudicator or judge has heard in camera evidence. "The
defence has no idea of what was said and cannot refute it. Zundel is being
denied the right to a fair hearing," says Fromm. "Secret
hearings are an affront to due process and the basic rights of Anglo-Saxon
justice," he adds.
Fromm represented Mr. Zundel at one of his detention
review hearings.
"Zundel may be controversial, but he's no threat to
national security," Fromm insists. "He's a lifelong pacifist.
He's been the victim of several bombings and other forms of violence,
himself, but has always urged peaceful behaviour on his supporters."
"Zundel is an ideas man, a publicist. CSIS is
cheapening the concept of 'national security' by saying that Zundel is a
threat. He's no terrorist," says Fromm.

Now to the supporter letter. I am not sure the writer has
all the trumped-up charges against Ernst Zundel straight - I did not know,
for example, that Ernst is accused of being a spy... But then, nothing is
impossible in what is ever more widely called Absurdistan del Norte all over
the world!

What strange disease is motivating the Canadian
Government?
The ground presented by your Immigration Department to
support the inadmissibility of Ernst Zundel's refugee status are truly
preposterous!
It is stated that Mr. Zundel is inadmissible because he
allegedly is "engaging in terrorism". You've got to be kidding!
This man is a pacifist - this means (check the dictionary) he believes in
peaceful coexistence with others and acts accordingly.
Inadmissible for "being a danger to the security of
Canada." My God, are we in trouble! Canada is in real trouble and
serious danger - in danger of becoming the laughing stock of the outside
world, the real world! Is your immigration department seriously suggesting
that Ernst Zundel, a pacifist author and artist (yes, a professional
artist), is going to threaten, attack, and harm, not a few people but a
whole country?
Inadmissible for 'engaging in acts of violence that would
or might endanger the lives or safety of persons in Canada". You
really are confused regarding this charge. Police records and news reports
clearly show that Ernst Zundel was the victim of three assassination
attempts. This man is the victim of "acts of violence", not the
perpetrator. His Toronto home was burned to the ground. This man is the
victim, not the criminal. Please, we urge you, make yourself aware of the
distinction.
Inadmissible for 'being a member of an organization
that...engages in acts [that endanger the security of Canada]...Denis
Coderre, should you decide to raise the sword of justice against criminals
instead of victims, then strike at that organization that has engaged in
criminal acts against the citizens of Canada, the CSIS.
Inadmissible for "engaging in an act of espionage or
act of subversion against a democratic government..." To come up with
this one, you and your cohorts must have overdosed on the cinematics of
the Hollywood propaganda machine. The truth is that Ernst Zundel is an
open book. Ernst Zundel, who seeks and relishes publicity, simply is not
of the nature to sink to secreteve or subversive action. Read the open
book of his life: lived in Canada for forty two years; never broke the
law. If you need more information, or if your secret reports on Zundel
don't make sense, simply go to the Zundelsite - it also has no secrets to
hide, it is an open book.
And finally, inadmissible for "engaging in or
instigating the subversion by force of any government."...Wow! Can it
be that now all the governments of the world are in danger of being
attacked by this law-abiding defender of human rights as well as human
dignity!...Far more likely is the use of the tactic of quantity rather
than quality. If the charges are weak, or make no sense, let's make sure
there are lots of them. Maybe, just maybe, one of them will stick.
The legal assault (past and present) of Zundel raises some
fundamental questions:
When did Canada become such a fragile, insecure country
that it cannot tolerate the presence of a principled individual? Is Canada
really becoming a "banana republic"? Who is giving the orders?
What is the Federal Liberal Government afraid of? What other innocent
victims and/or citizens is the Canadian government persecuting?
Denis Coderre, do you actually read the documents to which
you sign your name?
[END]
This letter is reflecting the feelings of many. If you can,
go and join the protest demonstration - you will have pictures to show to
your grandkids. Secret hearings to railroad an innocent man out of the
country are a disgrace! Ever more people can see that! I can certainly tell
by my mail!
