It has come to my attention that Germany has some very
strict laws regulating speech, literature and other forms of communication.
Since I have some clients in the travel business and I
myself may be taking a trip to Europe, I would like to know if people are
actually arrested and put in jail for illegal speech in Germany? Or, are
they just required to pay a fine and allowed to go on their way?
Are people arrested and taken into custody for possessing
illegal literature in Germany?
Do German officials(still called Gestapo?) inspect
Travelers' luggage for contraband literature upon entering or leaving
Germany?
Rather than avoiding Germany entirely in our travels, it
would be helpful to know what the forbidden subjects and publications are.
Could you please furnish me with a list of the forbidden subjects, words,
books, publications, and websites?
Also, I understand Germany issues arrest warrants for
non-Germans who may have committed German speech crime violations in America
and other countries which allow speech freedom.
How can a prospective traveler find out if he is subject to
arrest before he enters Germany?
Very truly yours, hn L. Kucek
