There is nothing new to report about Ernst Zundel. We are
all waiting what Monday will bring. In the meantime, some of you would like
to listen to Ernst in an *unedited* tape called "The Fifth
Estate":
I thought for today I would bring you two letters from
former Allied soldiers who now look at the war they fought in their youth
and ask themselves: "For this?"
THE FIRST LETTER is to the President of the United States
and is representative of hundreds that I have received:
Dear Mr. President:
While we have been off stamping out terrorism and fighting
for human rights around the globe, a terrible thing has happened in the
land. A gang of heavily armed thugs arrested a gentleman and hauled him
off to jail. They claimed to be from the Immigration Service. In New York
Harbor stands the Statue of Liberty, welcoming people to America. This
thought prevails throughout the land as we welcome strangers from all
points of the globe. Now this gentleman arrived openly with his personal
belongings. He did not sneak across the border at night. He did not bring
in drugs or other contraband.
We must ask why Mr. Ernst Zundel of Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
was singled out for unusual attention. He was denied access to an
attorney; in fact his wife had to surmount difficulties before even she
could visit him in jail.
This is not the America I grew up in and know. This
country bends over backwards to even safeguard the rights of mass
murderers - even if they are non-citizens. Why this illegal persecution of
Mr. Zundel?
Mrs. Ernst Zundel is a citizen of our country and Mr.
Zundel has certain privileges and rights as a spouse of an American
citizen. I ask: Why have these rights been trampled on ? I can only
surmise that there has been some sort of administrative error.
Therefore, Mr. President, as a church-goer, as a champion
of law and order, as a supporter of right and justice, I call on you to
right the wrongs imposed on Mr. Zundel. I call on you to return Mr. Ernst
Zundel to family and friends, so that this veteran can remain proud of the
flag under which he served.
THE SECOND LETTER is addressed to to Denis Coderre, Minister
of Citizenship and Immigration, Canada, who actually went public with
threats against Ernst to advertise his loyalty to what we sometimes call the
Shrill Minority. Coderre actually said: "Watch me kick Zundel
out!" He will be remembered for that one!
Dear Mr. Coderre:
I just read in today's Toronto Star that you made it clear
to the press that you won't allow "Holocaust denier" Ernst
Zundel to manipulate the system to draw out his stay in Canada. Are you
inferring that in his case due process of the law will be circumvented?
How can a law that applies to everyone be manipulated? By inference you
thereby make a mockery of our so-called Bill of Rights and Freedoms which
supposedly guarantees freedom of speech, assembly, religion, even thought
etc. Which of these, or what laws are you accusing Ernst Zundel of trying
to manipulate? Selective justice is not justice. Or are you not concerned
about that?
Zundel's enemies and the controlled media regularly refer
to him as a hate monger. He has been so vilified by an all-powerful
pressure group in connivance with a compliant one-sided media that
Canadians consequently know nothing positive about the man. What they say
about him in the media is a complete contradiction of what he really is, a
peaceful human being to whom the truth is omnipotent. He found out in a
"Human Rights Court" in which the chairman (not a judge) had the
gall to state for the record that "truth is no defense", even
though one has to swear on the Bible to tell the truth and nothing but the
truth. If the truth is no defense in a courtroom, then the lie prevails.
Sadly, that is the case in Canada today.
May I remind you that the truth is called hate only by
those who hate the truth. His accusers are the real hate mongers, for they
continually foster hatred among the peoples of Canada. However, to my
dismay, they seem to be immune from official censure and are free to
foster their vicious, unfounded accusations with impunity. If we live in a
just society, why has Ernst Zundel not been given the same right?
I recall that some years ago Zundel was charged with
"spreading false news". Actually, his enemies were spreading
false news in the media at the time, but they were not charged. Zundel
disproved all allegations against him in court. Despite the one-sided
proceedings, much of the Holocaust dogma was exposed as a fraud and lost
credibility. But because of a news blackout during his second trial, the
Canadian public was kept in the dark about what had transpired in court.
That particular law was struck down by the Supreme Court
of Canada and he was a free man for a time. But not for long, for his
detractors have not yet learned when enough is enough.
I spent close to five years in the Canadian Army,
including one year in the Service of the British Military Government in
occupied Germany, so I am well informed about what went on there during
and after the war. [Neither] I, nor anyone elase in the world, had heard
of the term "Holocaust" until it was created by Hollywood in
1967. So I, and an increasing number of thinking Canadians, have become
holocaust skeptics. How in good conscience must I accept something that I
know from personal experience and extensive research is largely a fraud?
George Orwell once wrote: "In this deceitful world,
telling the truth is revolutionary act". Well, I am not a
revolutionary, I just want to live in peace. Fostering a blatant lie will
only create more Holocaust skeptics because there are still Canadians who
can reason for themselves and resent being told what they must believe.
I read in the paper that Ernst Zundel is a danger to
Canada. This is absurd. He never has been, and is not now a danger to
anyone, least of all Canada. He has lived here for 42 years and never
committed a crime, yet he is treated as a criminal. Despite the constant
unfounded vilification of his character, he has broken no law in Canada.
His Canadian sons, their families and his grandchildren, as well as his
loyal wife in Tennessee, should not be deprived of his presence. He not
only deserves to remain in Canada, but also Canadian citizenship.
If he is shipped to the Zionist vassal state of Germany,
in which the truth of Germany's past is punishableby law, he will likely
have to spend many years in prison - just for telling the truth. Who will
this benefit? Certainly not the Canadian people. Truth ennobles the esteem
of those who have the courage and moral backbone to promote it, people
like Ernst Zundel. In a just society they would not be punished for it.
Your mind is probably made up - or has more likely been
made up for you by his traditional enemies. However, I appeal to you to
reconsider Ernst' Zundel's deportation based on common sense and humanity.
If you do deport him to Germany you will prove to me that my years in the
Canadian Army during World War II in defense of freedom and democracy were
wasted. And banish the thought that Zundel was right after all! Think
about it!
