I don't remember EVER having read such article depicting the "Writing on the Wall" for Zionism as this one, titled THE PRICE OF WEAKNESS By Yisrael Harel. It appeared in Ha'aretz | July 12, 2001 and cries out to be dissected and analyzed, Zundelsite-style:
Harel:
Israel's policy of restraint has failed not only in Israel, in the military sense. For the first time in many years, and against the background of what has become a chronic war of attrition, there are forces, mainly in Europe, that are no longer satisfied with the establishment of a Palestinian state. They now deny the very right of a Jewish state to exist within any borders.
Zundelsite:
What "policy of restraint"?
The good-will and forbearance granted postwar Zionism because of the "suffering" inflicted on Europe's Jews by the "Holocaust" is rapidly wearing out, as revisionist findings make headway and let people know that the whole thing was a deliberate propaganda tool devised by Zionism to get special consideration for setting up Israel and for bilking the Europeans for undeserved reparations.
Harel:
And if in the past such voices could be heard only from the fringes, today they are increasingly being heard from intellectuals, media figures and rightist and leftist politicians. Shimon Peres likes to talk of the support Israel enjoys as a result of its restraint, but the Knesset members who returned this week from an Interparliamentary Association conference report that they encountered a hostile atmosphere and genuine hatred, the likes of which they had never encountered before.
Zundelsite:
They need not be surprised! It is the normal treatment unmasked con men get from their "wised-up" victims. People, be they of the left or the right of the ideological divide or spectrum do not like having been lied to by false atrocity claims, fake gas chamber stories and wildly inflated numbers. Norman Finkelstein's unprecedented success is the best proof of this. This "hostile atmosphere" is only the beginning!
Harel:
Major newspapers and television stations, especially in Europe, have come out pointedly against Israel, in some cases using terminology reserved in the past exclusively for Nazis. It seems that when the Jewish people demonstrate weakness, particularly in their own country, all swoop down to attack it with the their beaks and claws.
Zundelsite:
Whining will get Zionism and its bullies nowhere any longer! The world has their number; the jig is up! Even if they were going to go on a brutal, open rampage of "strength", it would only accelerate Zionism's ultimate demise.
Lies, deceptions, manipulations of people's feelings, their callous exploitations have, like all things, a limited shelf life. This very article signals it strongly.
Harel:
And Israel's crisis of direction, will and military ability is having a deleterious effect on the Jews of the Diaspora. In many locations in Europe, they find they are once again forced to contend with soaring and terrifying hatred, like in the days when the Jews did not yet have a state.
Zundelsite:
It's not Israel's "crisis of will and direction", much less its military ability, that is the problem facing Israel and the world Jewish Diaspora. Their raw power to kill, hurt, destroy, maim, assassinate, bulldoze houses, level olive tree orchards - all is still there. They can still militarily defeat any or all "Arab states" in their neighborhood - but then what?
It's the numbers, stupid! There are too few Jews in Israel and too many Arabs around them. They do not have the manpower to successfully occupy or police even the areas they have occupied in 1948, 1967 or 1973, 1982, the Gaza strip etc. It is ruining Israel financially. The Palestinians are winning the war of attrition!
What if the Israelis occupied Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, parts of Egypt? They cannot do it for any length of time! Military power has its limits. Numbers of people hostile to Israel surround them will eventually count and eventually negate the most sophisticated weapons, even nuclear bombs.
Harel:
Jewish schools are guarded like prisons and community institutions have become fortresses. Anti-Semitic hatred, more often than not camouflaged as "legitimate" anti-Israeliness, is once again rearing its ugly head, especially in the media. More than 50 years after the establishment of the Jewish state, which allowed Jews to stand tall in the Diaspora and caused anti-Semitism to go underground, it is once again hard to be a Jew in Europe. And this time, with the irony of history, the Jewish state itself is partly to blame.
Zundelsite:
Israel and the world's Jewish organizations have used up, squandered and wasted all the fuzzy warmth and goodwill coming their way because of all the claimed - forever, at every opportune or inopportune time - invoked victimhood. This false claim, exposed as a tool or club, cudgel or sword by the Revisionists has now become counterproductive. Israelis and Jewish organizations like World Jewish Congress, the ADL, Simon Wiesenthal Center and a thousand other outfits are now seen as what they are - Israeli Fifth Columnists! They are in fact perceived more and more like the Communists of old - security threats and dangerous to any state other than Israel. This has been proven by Pollard, Hansen, the Rosenbergs, Slanskis etc.
Harel:
Most Arabs in Europe are recent arrivals there whom one might expect to feel the insecurity of immigrants (a large proportion of them are not even citizens). They nonetheless, and by the thousands, very aggressively demonstrate their identification with the acts of murder perpetrated by their Palestinian brethren against civilians, including the terror attacks at the Dolphinarium and the shopping malls.
Zundelsite:
The Jewish intellectuals, mainly of the left, have only themselves to blame for this. They agitated for 50 years to bring this state of affairs about. They made a fetish of cultural and political diversity. Now they do not like these policies' fruits.
In the political field, as in the military area, it is the Jews' lack of numbers which will be their undoing. Chutzpah, arrogance, blustering, posturing and intimidation of opponents have their clear and very limited effectiveness. From now on, it's all downhill for them! Any display of raw, naked, overkill power will only hasten the downfall! Sharon, far from being the "strong man" to bring about Israel's salvation, will bring about Israel's and possibly the Jewish Diaspora's downfall and ultimate defeat.
Harel:
But the Jews, most of whom are native-born and well-established European citizens, do not dare to come out against them. Israel, which in the past made them feel proud and bolstered their identity, is now, because of its weakness, having an adverse effect on their status and prestige.
Zundelsite:
Only partially right analysis! To be a foreigner, colored or a Muslim was a favorable, unassailable status invoked for these newcomers by Marxist and Jewish intellectuals, politicians etc. These minorities now use this very status, which shielded them from criticism before - only now against Zionist political goals!
Harel:
It appears that the Jewish state has not solved the problem of anti-Semitism, as the Zionist theories postulated. Recently, and particularly in the last 10 months of weakness and restraint, anti-Semitism has once again reared its ugly head - sometimes openly, but mainly in the guise of anti-Zionism and anti-Israeliness - to spit out its venom and hatred, most commonly in the countries of the European Union.
Zundelsite:
It's Israel's insufferable arrogance and power madness which has weakened it, not its "restraint"!
Israel's bully tactics, cruelty and violence make most decent Jews afraid to publicly identify with Israel. Who wants to be known as a friend of Charles Manson?
Harel:
Europe has a great fear of an inundation by Arabs. The French, for example, shudder at the thought that Muslims might take over cities and districts in southern France.
Zundelsite:
That is the "Realpolitik" facing every European regime. The leftist, Marxist, Jewish agenda is what brought this about and is part of the now developing backlash.
Actions do have consequences. Sometimes unexpected ones!
Harel:
Especially great is their fear that fundamentalist terror, like the explosion in the Twin Towers, will arrive in their cities. The Bin Laden phenomenon, fear of which caused the panicked flight of the American navy last week (perhaps influenced by the film "Pearl Harbor"?) from the ports of the Gulf, has filled American and European hearts with terror.
Zundelsite:
Guess who will be blamed and pilloried for it if this terror comes? The man in the street will blame the one-sided support of and infatuation with all things Israeli or Jewish by the western ruling elite. Arabs have never blackmailed European countries the way the Israelis have. Political upheaval will follow. Governments will fall. Regimes will crumble like the former Soviet Union.
Harel:
And on the other hand, the number of Jews currently living in Europe is tiny compared to the influx of Arabs and Muslims in recent years. But despite this, most Europeans, even in those countries such as Norway - with very few Jews, have thrown their support wholeheartedly behind the Palestinians. And France of all places, where opposition to the Arab presence is greatest, is where about one third of all violent anti-Semitic acts in the world occur.
Zundelsite:
Europeans are shaking off the postwar domination of their societies by the Allied/Anglo-American power structure, which came in the wake of the military defeat of European nationalism. The new generations, which have grown up since 1945, see Israel as an apartheid-practicing colonial regime, armed to the teeth by America, subjugating a people yearning to be free of their oppressors. Truth and political military reality have a way of catching up with religious, even with "We-are-God's-Chosen People" bigots. An irreligious, atheistic, humanistic political culture could not care less about Zionists' spurious, insane claim to special status. 400 million Europeans simply laugh at the superstitions of the ghetto-dwellers and their shtetl mentality!
Harel:
The European Union has taken a unilateral, open and blatant stand in favor of the Arabs. And the media, in particular the British media, has taken an obvious and sometimes even malicious and anti-Semitic position against Israel.
Zundelsite:
Get this, and get it straight: The Arab areas supply the oil on which Europe's economies depend. Israel supplies only grief and never-ending accusations. Israel is a parasitic state. With their hitherto useful "Holocaust" claim in shreds, Israel has no real leverage power. The Arabs have that power!
Harel:
On the BBC - and not only on its "special" on Sabra and Chatilla - we can already hear frequent claims that the Arab suffering of today is the result of the ethnic cleansing (the most morally charged term in the Western world today) that Israel carried out in its 1948 war.
Zundelsite:
The British ruling elites have long, long memories. They have not forgotten England's humiliation in Palestine by the Stern Gang, the killing of their soldiers in the King David Hotel, the booby-trapping of the tortured bodies of their soldiers by Lehi etc. All the indignities, humiliations, defeats and retreats, all the ruthless exploitation of Jewry's enemies, when they were temporarily defeated in 1945, 1947, 1948, 1956, 1967, 1973 or 1982 and 2001 will produce one day a coalition of enemies of Israel whose long memories will coalesce into a force so fierce and ruthless that it will change the face of the planet forever - even in this lifetime!
Harel:
The denial of Israel's right to exist as the state of the Jewish people has become the stuff of legitimate discourse in all cultural salons and prestigious talk shows in Europe. Arabs, who are often invited to participate in them without any Jewish balance being provided (or in the presence of Israelis who share the Arabs' views), are not the only ones who hold these convictions.
Zundelsite:
If Apartheid South Africa, Rhodesia, British India or French Algeria had no right to exist, why should the artificial construct of a racist colonial regime based on the "Right of Return of Jews only" to Palestine, established a mere 50 years ago, have a right to exist?
In the real world, fantasies of religious dreamers and zealots do not count for much! Remember, Stalin asked: "How many division has the Pope?"
Harel:
Never, since the days of the Nazis, has anti-Semitism reared its head the way it is doing today, cries that moderate man, Michael Malchior, Shimon Peres's deputy. In Norway, where he served as chief rabbi, Israel's Law of Return has become the prototype of "absolute evil" and Zionism an evil and racist movement.
Zundelsite:
The truth will out. Israel has helped to unmask itself and is exposing its brutal ugliness every day by its policies of expansion, torture and assassination of political dissidents, especially Palestinians.
Harel:
And all this has happened since the signing of the Oslo agreements, encompassing very broad circles of society, with intellectuals and government officials taking an active role in stirring up the muddy wave. This is yet another product of the "Restraint is strength," and "Our moderation has caused the world to identify with Israel" strategy. The world, at least from the way it has been responding lately, has chosen to identify with the murderers of children.
Zundelsite:
Wrong analysis dictated by fear and self-pity! The facts are otherwise!
Israel's Oslo policies were a grand deception, designed to fool the Palestinians and the world into accepting the disenfranchising of the Palestinians by "peaceful", piecemeal means. The Israeli seizing of valuable Palestinian land, water resources, in short living space, went ahead, as did the building of new Jewish settlements in Palestinian areas. The world governments know this and feel lied to and conned!
As to the "murderers of children"? What chutzpah! What utter arrogance! Who will forget the cowering 12-year-old child who was murdered in plain view of whirring cameras right in his father's lap?!
