These political show trials against intellectual dissidents "guilty" of Orwellian ThoughtCrimes are flushing out the censors of free speech and enemies of independent thought. They show unaware people how special interest groups are using the Holocaust as a brutal tool of censorship - especially Internet censorship.

EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION
Dr Fredrick Töben, Director of Adelaide Institute Website and editor of Adelaide Institute Newsletter, was arrested in Mannheim, Germany, on April 9th, 1999, by two German officials, HansHeiko Klein, Public Prosecutor, and State Security Police (Staatsschutz) Superintendent Mohr, for "thought crimes". ENTRAPMENT
We feel that this arrest was a case of entrapment, in that Dr Töben had a private talk with Herr Klein, in which he raised some issues concerning the Holocaust, on April 8th, 1999. He was then invited to return for further discussion next day, at which time he met not only Klein, but also Herr Mohr, who did not initially identify himself as belonging to the political police.
During the course of conversation, Klein was asked if he believed in the Holocaust, which he immediately agreed to. Fredrick Töben was asked if he also agreed with the Holocaust story, to which he responded: "that's what you say". This degree of implied scepticism was enough for Superintendent Mohr to call for Fredrick's immediate arrest on a charge of "defaming the memory of the dead". Apparently only full and hearty agreement is permissible in Germany.
PRIVATE CONVERSATION
Adelaide Institute wishes to emphasise that Fredrick Töben's remarks were in the course of a private conversation with Messrs Klein and Mohr. At no time did he make any public statements on the Holocaust, hold rallies, make speeches or in any other way make any public statements of disbelief in the Holocaust inside Germany outside his encounter with these two men. This "thought crime" was held to be sufficient to arrest him.
PRESERVE INTERNET FREE SPEECH
The historical content of Adelaide Institute Website will no doubt be produced at a trial, and it is our understanding that Herr Klein has already downloaded extensive material from Adelaide Institute Website, but this is an illegitimate action on the part of the German State and legal system, in that the Internet is in the international public domain, and is outside German jurisdiction. Any such material, in a fair trial, should be declared null and void and irrelevant.
INTERNATIONAL COVERAGE
The Internet has international coverage, crossing international "borders". By what right does Germany impose its censorship on it? Germans are not obliged to view revisionist material if they disagree with it or are offended by it, whereas they ARE obliged to accept the orthodox view of the Holocaust imposed on them by German authorities.
AUSTRALIAN CITIZEN
Dr Töben is an Australian citizen, operating a Website that is legal in Australia, and he has actually supplied copies of the content of the Website to federal police in Australia who confirm that it does not break Australian law. The German State is once again outside its jurisdiction in seeking to give itself the status of international law and acting as "censors" of material that is legal within the country of origin. Consequently, this is a violation of the rights of an Australian citizen, and the Australian Foreign Minister, Mr Downer, the Australian Government and Opposition are being approached to assert Dr Töben's rights as an Australian citizen which are being violated by the German State for thought police crimes.
POLITICAL PRISONER
Dr Töben is a political prisoner, who has been unjustly and illegitimately arrested inside Germany on the basis of a private conversation and on the content of a Website which operates in another country and does not contravene Australian law. The actions of the German State are thus illegitimate.
LAWYER HIRED
A Lawyer has been hired to defend Dr Töben and updates will be issued as more information comes to hand about Dr Töben.
WORLDWIDE SUPPORT
Messages of support have been received all over the world for Dr Töben's struggle to maintain historical truth and free discussion. EFA (Electronic Frontiers Association) has told us that they will support Dr Töben on the issue of free speech on the Internet.

Notfall
Dr. Fredrick Töben, Direktor der "Adelaide Institute Website" und Redakteur des "Adelaide Institute Newsletter", wurde am 9. April 1999 in Mannheim von Staatsanwalt Hans Heiko Klein und der Staatsschutz-Polizei wegen "Denkverbrech" verhaftet.
Er ist zur Zeit im Mannheimer Gefängnis und wartet auf seinen Prozeß.
Gefangennahme
Wir betrachten diese Verhaftung als unrechtmäßige Gefangennahme, die während eines Privatgesprächs am 8. April 1999 zwischen Staatsanwalt Klein und Dr. Töben stattfand, in dem Dr. Töben einige Fragen ansprach, die den Holocaust betrafen. Er wurde dann für eine weitere Diksussion am nächsten Tag eingeladen, zu der nicht nur Staatsanwalt Klein sondern auch Mohr (Staatsschutz) erschien, der sich zunächst nicht als Angehöriger der politichen Polizei zu erkennen gab.
Während des Gesprächs wurde Klein gefragt, ob er an den Holocaust glaubte, worauf er das sofort bestätigte. Dr. Fredrick Töben wurde gefragt, ob er ebenfalls der Holocaust-Geschichte zustimmte, worauf er erwiderte "Das ist es, was Sie sagen". Dieses Ausmaß an Skeptik war für Mohr Anlaß genug, Fredricks sofortige Verhaftung zu fordern ("Verunglimpfung des Andenkens Verstorbener"). Offenbar ist nur volle und von Herzen kommende Zustimmung in Deutschland erlaubt.
Privatgespräch
Das Adelaide Institute weist darauf hin, daß Fredrick Töbens Bemerkungen an die Herren Klein und Mohr während einer privaten Unterhaltung stattfanden. Zu keiner Zeit gab er öffentliche Erklärungen zum Holocaust ab, veranstaltete Kundgebungen, hielt Reden oder gab in anderer Weise innerhalb Deutschlands öffentliche Erklärungen des Unglaubens betreffs des Holocausts ab, außer in seinem Treffen mit diesen zwei Männern. Dieses "Denkverbrechen" war Anlaß genug, ihn zu verhaften.
Redefreiheit im Internet
Der historisch relevante Inhalt der "Adelaide Institute Website" wird ohne Zweifel in der Vehandlung zur Sprache kommen, und wir sind sicher, daß Staatsanwalt Klein bereits umfangreiches Material von der "Adelaide Institute Website" heruntergeladen hat. Das ist jedoch eine illegale Handlung des deutschen Staates und seines Justiz-Systems. Das Internet ist ein internationaler öffentlicher Raum und befindet sich außerhalb deutscher Gerichtsbarkeit. Jedes solches Material sollte in einem fairen Prozeß als null und nichtig und irrelevant erklärt werden.
Internationale Verbreitung
Das Internet hat internationale Verbreitung und überschreitet nationale "Grenzen". Mit welchem Recht zwingt Deutschland dem Internet seine Zensur auf? Deutsche sind nicht verpflichtet, sich mit revisionistischem Material zu befassen, wenn sie diesem nicht zustimmen oder sich dadurch beleidigt fühlen, wogegen sie aber verpflichtet sind, die orthodoxe Sicht der Dinge zu akzeptieren, wie sie von den deutschen Behörden vorgeschrieben werden.
Australischer Staatangehöriger
Dr.Töben ist ein australischer Staatsangehöriger, der eine Website betreibt, die in Australien legal ist. Er hat bereits Kopien des Inhalts an die australische Polizei geschickt, die bstätigt hat, daß das Material nicht gegen australisches Gesetz verstößt. Der deutsche Staat bewegt sich wiederholt außerhalb seiner Jurisdiktion indem er versucht, sich den Status internationaler Rechtssprechung zu geben und sich als Zensor von Material betätigt, das in seinem Herkunftsland legal ist.
Konsequent gesehen ist das eine Verletzung der Rechte eines australischen Staatsbürgers und der australische Außenminister Mr. Downer, die australische Regierung und Opposition wurden aufgefordert, Dr. Töbens Rechte als australischer Staatsbürger durchzusetzen, die vom deutschen Staat wegen Denkverbrechen verletzt werden.
Politischer Gefangener
Dr. Töben is ein politischer Gefangener, der rechtswidrig und illegal in Deutschland verhaftet wurde. Grundlage für diese Aktion war ein Privatgespräch und der Inhalt einer Website, die in einem anderen Land betrieben wird und dem dortigen Gesetz nicht widerspricht. Die Aktionen des deutschen Staates sind daher illegitim.

Ein Anwalt wurde beauftragt, Dr. Töben zu verteidigen. Weitere Informationen werden veröffentlicht, sobald sie verfügbar sind.

Weltweit wurden Nachrichten verschickt, die Dr. Töbens Kampf unterstützen, historische Wahrheit und Diskussionsfreiheit wiederherzustellen. EFA (Electronic Frontiers Association) hat bekanntgegeben, daß sie Dr. Töben in der Sache "Redefreiheit im Internet" unterstützen wird.
