I was searching for a summary statement to describe the raging PC War within America's and Canada's conventional churches - and came across the following by one Matthew Arnold:
"Let the long contention cease!
Geese are swans, and swans are geese!"
That's pretty much what's going on. My hair stands up on end when I read some of the pious, thick nonsense that I hear.
To me, the topic of enemy Fifth Column infiltration into the PC churches is a truly fascinating one. My ears prick up each time I hear another story of yet another churchly pom pom girl of either sex engaging in a PC rah-rah.
It was, therefore, a welcome relief when I came across a story that had the refreshing savor of mint.
When Pastor Joe Wright of Central Christian Church was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, for instance, everyone was expecting the usual politically correct generalities. But what they heard, instead, was a truly stirring PIP - a Politically Incorrect Prayer.
The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out!
In six short weeks, however, Central Christian Church logged more than 5,000 phone calls, with only 47 of those calls responding negatively.
Next, Commentator Paul Harvey aired the prayer on the radio and received a larger response to this program than any other program he has ever aired.
Central Christian Church is now receiving international requests for copies of this prayer from India, Africa, and Korea.
Here's what the pastor said, in part:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You today to ask Your forgiveness and seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe on those who call evil good,' but that's exactly what we have done.
We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and inverted our values. We confess that:
* We have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it
pluralism.
* We have worshipped other gods and called it multiculturalism.
* We have endorsed perversion and called it an alternative lifestyle.
* We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.
* We have neglected the needy and called it self-preservation.
* We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
* We have killed our unborn and called it choice.
* We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
* We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building
self-esteem.
* We have abused power and called it political savvy.
* We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.
* We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it
freedom of expression.
* We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and
called it enlightenment. <end>
I think we need a PIP of our own - as in David Irving's words: "Damn the torpedoes - full speed ahead!"
Odd how people can see the same event differently.
Here is a Jewish fellow at odds with what we say. As I already told you yesterday, his cyber name is "Lizard" - and here is what he shares with some of his compatriots, among them the worthy Jamie McCarthy:
"I see no meaningful connection between the fact of the Holocaust (and the many other genocides of equal moral and human magnitude of the 20th century) and permitting/tolerating yet another one. The actions of Israel in regard to the West Bank are barbaric, and should be treated the same such actions are treated when they are committed by any other nation. (That is, a bunch of talking heads on TV should tut-tut about them, and nothing much else would be done. The alternative is a 'Pax Americana', which I think neither of us wants. Oh, maybe the UN should issue some meaingless (sic) decree or something, but, again, I think we're both quite happy the UN is basically impotent.)
"Indeed, a powerful and perusasive (sic) argument can be made that, because of the Holocaust, Israel, and the Jews, should be especially unwilling to engage in such actions, that they should be the last people on Earth to 'do unto others as was done unto them', as it were.
"Sadly, as you are living proof, the lesson most people learn from tyranny is that it's better to be on the right side of the whip.
"(P)erhaps the worst thing the Revisionists have done is to make it easy to silence any legitimate criticism of Israel, or legitimate study of how the Holocaust is exploited politically, by permitting such debate to be linked with those who deny it occured (sic) at all -- just as the prescence (sic) of the likes of David Duke have made it difficult to attack affirmative action and other racist laws.
"The Holocaust happened. That's a fact. The National Socialist state of Germany engaged in the deliberate slaughter of roughly 10-12 million innocent people, of whom roughly 6 million were Jews. Whether that fact means modern Germans should feel guilty, or that Stalin wasn't even worse for killing over twice as many people, or that Dresden should be forgotten, or that Israel has a 'liscence (sic) to kill' , are issues for open and meaningful debate that do not depend on denying history ever happened.
"Unless, of course, one's collectivist/nationalist worldview would *justify* the actions done in the name of the Holocaust, and thus, it must be denied in order to critique those actions." <end>
Amazing - isn't it? Words fail me utterly.
That's your Talmudic Tango I promised yesterday.

Thought for the Day:
"The great ideal of Judaism is that the whole world shall be imbued with Jewish teachings, and that in a universal brotherhood of nations - a greater Judaism in fact - all the separate races and religions shall disappear."
