I had a long talk with Ernst Zundel yesterday when he called me from Ottawa on the eve of the first leg of the legal challenge to Canada's elite for their playing into the hands of the Canadian censors.
It was one of the most remarkable dialogues I have ever had with him. Let's just say, for now, that the opposition takes this Zundel challenge ***very*** seriously, and they will do all they can today to abort it if at all possible.
I will know more at the end of the day.
Common sense tells you that one man, flanked only by two long-time attorneys, cannot go against all the enormous resources and power of the Canadian government and expect to win - but Ernst Zundel has wrought some surprising results before by squeezing lemonade out of lemons. :)

Everywhere you look, the struggle for free speech intensifies. And wherever there is a victim and an injustice, out of that situation grow additional sympathizers who turn into partners on behalf of our cause which is - first, last and always - TRUTH IN HISTORY.
Yesterday I reported about the arrest and humiliating abuse of a very dignified French scholar. Today, I have more abuse to report. This just came out of Spain in somewhat halting English:
LIBRERIA EUROPA SET ON FIRE
Last month we informed you about the trial against Pedro Varela and his Librería Europa (Barcelona, Spain), and about the sentence that condemned him to five years imprisonment for racial hatred and holocaust denial.
This sentence was appealed against and we are waiting for the higher court decision.
Today we inform you that Librería Europa has been set on fire.
Yesterday, January 16th, took place a demonstration against this bookstore, organized by several Marxist, Jewish, and other "democratic" groups.
The police asked us for keeping the bookstore closed in prevention of violence, and so we did.
But the "crusaders of freedom" destroyed the entrance, crashed the shop windows and burned thousands of books. The police, that asked us for help to prevent violence keeping the shop closed, did nothing. They simply were not present during the assault, with nonfulfillment of its obligation of guard in case of risk of violent demonstrations.
This is the first and incomplete bit of news that we can give for the moment.

Since I want to keep my channels open for additional news out of Ottawa, I'll sign off now with this short ZGram. I sent out an e-mail press release last night, and we have had hundreds of additional visitors to the Zundelsite, many of whom I assume to be reporters.
Experience tells me that few will have the courage to show up in Ottawa, however. We'll see.
