Physically, Frank Walus was a little fellow, only 5'3'' tall, slight of
build. Mentally, he was a mild and simple man, a devout Catholic, not at
all equipped to face down and defend the shredding of his life and name
that came in the wake of his vicious judicial persecution and media vilification.
He was put through hell in a federal court room. His judge was the famous
Judge Hoffman in the "Chicago Seven" fame. He stood trial against
the background of the shrieking of the Holocaust Promotion Lobbyists, charged
with concealing his alleged "Nazi war crimes" from United States
immigration officials. Why? More than a dozen so-called "witnesses"
had implicated Walus in the murders of nearly two dozen Polish civilians,
including young children, and the beating deaths of Jews in the Polish towns
of Czechostowa and Kielze (Kiebze?) between 1939 and 1943.
The witnesses described in the minutest detail how they heard the nearby
church tower clock chime at the very moment Walus beat a Jew to death with
an iron bar. Another Jew could remember the Jewish holiday it was when Walus
was supposed to have committed his fiendish tortures on her husband.
Of the 13 witnesses, it turned out, according to Polish government records made available to Walus in Warsaw, NINE HAD NEVER EVEN BEEN IN POLAND DURING THE WAR!
Little good did that do Walus. As a result of the charges and the lapdog
media mob, he was beaten, spat at, attacked with a chemical spray and ruined
financially. Friends and neighbors shunned him. He suffered seven heart
attacks by the time his ordeal was over.
He had heard of Ernst' struggle and came to Toronto, seeking advice, help
and relief. Ernst collected funds for him among his friends, arranged for
some simple speaking engagements, and essentially just lent a willing ear
and a ready shoulder. As a result, Walus participated in the First Holocaust
Trial when Ernst himself got into trouble, caused by the same type of people.
He functioned as a witness and also made videos with Ernst. You see Frank
Walus in some of the Trial videos which will stand as a permanent record.
Frank told the court about how his alleged crimes were totally fabricated
by Simon Wiesenthal, and what he had to suffer as a consequence, illustrating
the lying and deceit in these types of cases. He was never properly compensated
by the US authorities for what they put him through. The press did not rehabilitate
him. No one apologized.
Frank Walus died in 1996 of a final heart attack, a poor and broken man.
His premature death is on Wiesenthal's conscience.
The Imre Finta Case in Canada was very similar. It went to trial in the
early 1980s, and Finta's defense attorney was Doug Christie, Canada's Battling
Barrister. The essence of the Finta charges was that he had "kidnapped"
and "robbed" Jews in his capacity as a police gendarme whose orders
were to round up, process and ship Jews out of Hungary toward the end of
the war. After a grueling nine months trial, Imre Finta was acquitted on
all charges by a jury.
Now we read in an Associated Press Report of February 3, 1997 that
"Jewish leaders are asking Canada to investigate allegations that hundreds
of former members of a Nazi SS division are now living in Canada and receiving
German war pensions."
Sol Littman, Canadian spokesman for the Simon Wiesenthal Centre in Canada,
met with Canadian Solicitor General Herbert Gray, who is Jewish and also
is the Cabinet minister who oversees law enforcement. Last week he asked
that Canada investigate German news reports that 1,882 members of Waffen-SS
units are in Canada and are receiving German pensions. The report goes on
to say that
"The Wiesenthal Center's demand came at a sensitive time for the Canadian government, which is under intense pressure to speed up deportation proceedings against alleged Nazi war criminals . . .
One suspect died last month, just before proceedings against him began. The death prompted new criticism from Jewish groups of Canada's poor record in prosecuting or deporting war criminals.
Though several hundred suspected war criminals immigrated to Canada following the war, only one has been deported."
Justice Minister Alan Rock, a steely-eyed, cold-hearted "anti-private-gun-ownership"
zealot who loves to espouse Jewish championed causes and whose government
is up for re-election soon, has stated, according to this AP Release, that
his department is ". . . determined to improve Canada's record."
Could politics have anything to do with the timing?
Rock questioned allegations that thousands of former Nazis live in Canada.
"I think some of the numbers may be exaggerated,'' he said. However,
"'This government is committed to acting where there's evidence that
someone has been involved in crimes against humanity or war crimes,' (Rock)
said in Ottawa. 'We're doing the best we can to get them removed from the
country if that can be proven.'''
In January 1995, the Justice Department announced it planned to launch deportation
proceedings against 12 men "suspected of war crimes." Ten cases
have been initiated.
"We are well on track with this new approach,'' Rock said. "We are determined to deny safe haven in Canada to war criminals.''
This is Talmudic vengeance playing ghastly.
I'd like to think there is an instinct in the human psyche that kicks in
when a swarm of vultures circles overhead a wounded animal, befouling the
wind with the beat of their wings. The strongest word that I can think of
is abhorrence - a word my dictionary defines as ". . . repugnant or
detestable; a feeling of utter loathing causing violent recoil."

Thought for the Day:
"Nature gave men two ends. One to sit on, and one to think with. Ever since then, man's success or failure has been dependent on the one he used most."
