I have said for some time that we have far more support underground in
the media and entertainment field than even we suspect. One of our supporters
calls this evidence "Zundel eruptions."
". . . The plot of this hour-long drama set in a Nova Scotia seaside community revolved around the Holocaust revisionist writings that a local high school teacher named "Andy" had posted on the Internet. (!)
". . . an interesting hour long program which revolved around a male teacher who had written a pamphlet contra the "holocaust". But it was different since the teacher was actually portrayed as a sensitive, intelligent individual hounded by a Canadian woman who has recently returned to Canada from LA.
"I would suggest that it was a grand smear of Malcolm Ross. (Ed.: A teacher who recently lost his job in New Brunswick after first losing his case in Canada's Supreme Court, argued brilliantly by Canada's legendary "Battling Barrister", Doug Christie. Ross was hounded and persecuted NOT for what he taught in class but for what he thought and published in private on his own time ! ) Disclaimers notwithstanding, it sure looked that way to me. I do hope that Malcolm is able to sue these malevolent swine. . . "
". . . The host, Leslie Primeau, seemed to be very much on the same side as Paul; and two of the three callers likewise sided with Paul; it was the flimsiness of the reasons for seeking to fire Paul that appeared to be what triggered alarms bells in the host and her callers.
". . . In what is widely thought to be the first instance of Net censorship in Italy, an e-mail forum called Lisa has been removed from the computers of Bologna University. At issue were defamatory messages that were circulated among members of the list. The messages did not concern the themes of the list, but were insults directed at the members of another online group called Citt=E1 Invisible (Invisible City). The forum moderator . . . says she was not consulted before the decision was taken, adding that "pressure" was exerted on the university to close the list. The university stated that its network belongs to the ministry of education and that it is obliged to exercise some control over users' activities. (The Guardian, Britain; November 28, 1996)"
". . . Polish prosecutors are considering whether to press charges against a prominent priest for remarks he made in 1995 concerning the pivotal role of Jews in Communist leadership positions.
"France ruled today (1/23/97) that 86 year-old Maurice Papon must stand trial for alleged crimes against humanity during World War II. Papon is the last living Frenchman to face such charges. He is accused of ordering the arrest and deportation of almost 1,700 French Jews when he was a local police supervisor in Bordeaux between 1942 and 1944.
". . . The war crimes unit has investigated around 375 suspected cases, but in all but seven the suspects have either died or the unit has been unable to find enough evidence against them.
Thought for the Day:
". . . one more reflection off a dark stone rising out of the mud of supposed anti-fascist rhetoric. Free speech, yes, but not here and not there and not in that instance either. . . "
