The most acclaimed of Ingrid Rimland's books, this novel is a fictitious
account of her Mennonite grandmother's life. Now in its third printing,

The novel traces the decimation of a pacifist people during the Bolshevik
Revolution, anarchy, famine, the Stalinist purges, escape from the Ukraine,
and eventual resettlement in the rain forests of Paraguay.
